reciprocating states, do you trust it?

Some states honor the CCW from other states, My state reciprocates with some states that are not even remotely close to mine. But anyways, if I go to an honoring state and conceal and get stopped by the police, I will not get "the business?"

I am not sure I really trust this "law" Do you trust this?

Know the law of where you travel

Do not get pulled over

If you DO get pulled over only divulge you are carrying IF the law requires it, OR the officer is friendly and it just comes up. I would not LIE about it either.

I got pulled a few mos ago and in MO it's on your info when they run your DL.
The cop, a rookie in a rural dept, came up and asked me what I carried which led to a 20 min conversation about guns and such and no ticket.

I would trust the reciprocity as long as you know the laws. A really good site for checking gun laws in any state is Handgunlaw.us. They really break down the laws and explain them so that just about anybody can understand them. I recently traveled to St. Louis, MO and had my XD45c in my MTAC (Sorry Mark) and I missed my exit into downtown. Before I knew it I had crossed into Illinois and that could have been big trouble if I had been stopped by the police. I turned around crossed back into Missouri at the first chance I got. Illinois does not allow any concealed carry.

Better yet, carry a print out of the laws with you. That way if the officer questions you or doesn't know the laws, you have a copy with you, could save a lot of time and headache.

Would an officer just assume that the person stopped has the copy of the correct laws? I mean, its pretty easy to type something on the computer these days. How would he/she know or even trust that you have the correct laws and not just some cheap get-out-of-jail-free card?

Absolutely. As others have said, your permit is good as long as you are following all of the laws of the jurisdiction that you are in.

For example, a judge in Virginia isn't going to give a crap about how we do it in North Carolina, but as long as I am in compliance with all Virginia laws - no problem.

I live in Indiana and we have classes so you can set a Utah CCW. A Utah carry permit allows you to carry in 33 states. Your state may hold the same kind of classes.

I doubt they would assume that you would have a copy of the correct laws, but if you have a print out from the above posted website I don't think he could argue with you very much. Then it could also give him reason to find out for himself what the correct laws are if he/she doesn't know.
