So with the other thread going I figured I'd toss this up for debate.

The Question is if you have partaken of a substance that impairs your ability would you carry a firearm.

Carrying under the influence of anything other than good judgment is a sure way to lose your carry permit. It only serves to set the whole cause back to where we all may as well live in a state with no carry permits at all.

Apparently, I'm one of the few that picked "One beer..."

Seriously, I won't disarm myself at Thanksgiving dinner because we happen to serve wine with dinner and I won't disarm myself because I've had one beer or because I've been chugging cold medicine to clear up my couch.

Now if my purpose in going out is to get sloshed (never happens)... I will keep my gun at home and hope that a criminal doesn't attempt to pick on the easy targets tonight.

I'm with you. One beer or one glass of wine and I'm still good to go. If I want any more than that and I either disarm or stop (if there is no place to leave my piece) drinking.

I would say a beer with dinner is ok the food will absorb most of the alchol anyway

I put that after one drink I'll still carry. I very rarely ever drink anyways, but I'm still thinking straight after a drink. No reason to disarm myself over that.

Def not going to carry if I'm tanked but intoxicants in moderate amounts shouldn't be a problem.
