Though it seems easy and she told me she will always be with her purse, anyone out there freaked out by a gun in the purse because of purse snatchers? Like the ones who run up from behind and are gone before you knew wtf happened. I'd hate for one of those douchebags to get a gun.

I just can't see purse carry for this reason. For example, most women put their purse in the cart when they are shopping. You are really distracted when you shop. Even if you don't have little kids (like I do) it is just too risky!

My wife carries in her purse. I'm on her all the time about it, but she says it is the only place she can always conceal. Otherwise she would have to move the gun around and she doesn't like that idea.

My partner has an LCP she carries off-duty and my wife made a holster for her that has a couple velcro straps that fasten it to her bra underneath her left arm. Kind of a shoulder holster using her bra for a harness. If you or your wife can sew, you might try making something like that.

Perhaps some pics of said holster, in service, would help ..........

Yeah. Nice try, but I've never even seen it in use. She came to me with the carry issue, I came up with the idea and designed the holster, my wife made and fitted it. It took her quite a while and several fittings. I got kicked out of the room during the fitting sessions.

Just a couple more things to think about...

I personally think it's better to have your firearm on your person. That way if you happened to be targeted for a "purse snatching", your wife/girlfriend wouldn't run the risk arming another BG.

A fannie pack, shoulder bag or purse theft happens at lightning speed. It is very, very hard to prevent these attacks.

I would also suggest your wife/girlfriend carry her ID & credit cards in a "slim" wallet. These are difficult to detect in a pants pocket and limit the risk of ID theft should a purse/bag be stolen.

I would also suggest carrying a purse/bag on the weak side so if there is a snatch and grab her strong arm is free and doesn't risk being injured. Should your wife/girfriend be targeted, she can let the BG have her purse; then while he's destracted she can retrieve her firearm from it's place of concealment on her "strong" side to defend herself if the need arises.

This is what my wife does:
My wife carries a purse/bag she just keeps a little cash, coupons and other essentials such as make up and candy/gum etc. Her ID and credit/debit cards stay in the slim wallet undetected and hopefully, UN-stolen should she be tageted for a purse snatch.

They actually make a number of concealment holsters for this type of situation.

If your wife wears shorts (Not short-shorts), dress or skirt (Not a mini skirt), the "Smartcarry" holster is a excellent choice for concealment.

Smartcarry and Thunderwear are great for concealment, not so great for actually getting your gun out should the need arise. They are also uncomfortable if you sit a lot.

I've tried to get her to carry on-body, trust me. But I also know from personal experiance how quickly self-defense situations evolve. I would rather my wife carry in a place that she can get to quickly. About the only other advantage to purse carry is that she can throw the whole purse to me should the need arise.

In all honesty, if my wife is going to need a gun when I'm not with her, it is most likely going to be in the house or car. Both have stashed weapons available, both lethal and less-lethal. I also spend time training my family on how to respond to various threats. I pitty the person that kicks in the door of my house when I'm not home. If 110lbs of teeth and fur don't get you, the wife and/or kids will.
