Both, Each have their pros and cons. UPS does destroy the packages, but they're ontime/consistent. Fed-ex's boxes stay intact but show up at random times...............

If you live in the US there is the Postal Service.

I have a side business. Volume is down right now. But I used to ship ~50 packages a week. All through the USPS. Why? Well I do work there and that Flat Rate packaging rocks.

Fed Ex, packages move on Saturdays without extra cost.

I ship over 400 packages a day working for my F-I-L. We only use Fed Ex if the customer asks for it and gives us their third party account number. We do not like Fed Ex, too many missing packages.

I also work at UPS and it's not the shippers fault sometimes.
I don't know how many packages I see that have ONE strip of tape holding the box together and the package weighs like 50lbs!

Or even when someone tries to ship something small in a bigger box than it really needs.

And for u guys saying fedex delievers earlier in theday.. It all depends on how far out the ups drivers are from there stops.. They calculate the drivers stop so it makes them more efficent and can deliever more packages.

Maybe I'm biased.. But I know my hub takes care of thier packages. And we spend extra time re boxing ur goods if the box is torn to shreds because people can't package right.

Mattx has a point..
Packing has a lot to do with a damaged package.

UPS strives to match FedEx on delivery times.
I don't mean time of day, I mean days from one point to another.
I thank God for FedEx, reducing their delivery times.
It forced UPS to pull loads off the railroad and provided us (the feeder/semi drivers) with more routes and jobs.
I've also seen his OKC hub..
It is nicer and cleaner than the hubs down here in DFW.

Also one cannot blame a UPS driver for the time of day delivery.
Back in my day of package car delivery I could run my route how I wanted to every day.
Which usually consisted of getting all the Next Day and bulk package stops of first.
Then figuring out the best way to finish it off, and try to be done by 3 PM to start making pick ups.
But now a driver's day is determined by a software program that minimizes left turns and backtracking,
From what I understand a driver cannot vary from the daily programed route by more than a few percent without getting his/her a$$ chewed out...

You really can't beat USPS for small stuff that doesn't need precise tracking.
But when I ship large items or high value items I'll usually use UPS.

Heh... you can blame me... One of the projects that I was running for FedEx touched the software needed for scheduling routes...

+1 for the 3rd choice
ups has the best tracking but never delivers to my place before 5pm, which is a pain because i work nights.
fed ex is more reliable for early delivery, but usps is my favorite. (my mail lady is so nice and always rings the door to my apartment because she knows i'm home days so thats awesome).

Don't like Fedex... 'cause if they get the package to your distribution center early, they will let it sit there until the date they promised it. Instead of delivering it...they mark it "NOT DUE FOR DELIVERY" and let you sit and wait.
