i like synthetic, the only wood i like is laminate on rifles

Well, I didn`t vote synthetic or wood.
I think it depends on the "Look" that you want.
If you`re going to put all that Tactical stuff on it, then I`d say synthetic.
If you`re not, and want a more traditional look like a Police 870, then I`d say wood.
