I voted no. However I would be all for it if someone would be willing to pay me to moderate it, because it would be a full time job.

I just don't think it would be necessary.

go for it if it spins yer wheels as for me i won't take part.

already enough brown stuff being throw around over religion world wide....
and has been for centuries if you bother to check out world history.

religion in my opinion should be a personal thing and beng so should be kept that way ......and most Definitely out of politics.

I voted a strong "NO".

This is a gun forum. We all originally came here for pretty much the same reason: we just bought an XD and we were excited to learn more about it (or some similar reason). So, in that respect we are a cohesive community.

Both the PV forum and the proposed religion forum only offer to add a level of divisiveness that is unnecessary - a way to distinguish who "belongs" in your community of friends and who does not. If you didn't know that so-and-so was a god-hating atheist liberal, you would be perfectly fine discussing modifying the trigger mechanism of the XD; but since you know they are, you choose to have no positive interaction with them. I've seen it in the PV already - someone posts something that goes against the majority opinion and they are ostracized on the rest of the site as well. That would only be worse in the proposed religion forum.

If we add a religion forum, we should also add forums for race and gender. How about one for beards vs mustaches? Maybe one to debate whether baseball cards are worth collecting still?

Stick to the obvious original intent of the forum and keep it about guns.

However a place where we can share information about your walk and cool things relating to such!

IF YOU DON'T LIKE RELIGION YOU COULD JUST NOT CLICK ON IT?

SO MY QUESTION IS THIS,

Should we ask for this type of sub-forum?
We could add a Mod if needed to help with the mod part.
Hm... My last time through this thread, I voted and posted WILLy-nilly without really reading the accompanying original post.

Upon reading the post, I pretty much say "no". The original post is asking for a Christian sub-forum, not a "Religion" sub-forum. That exclusivity is divisive given the number of non-Christians here. Plus, given the LARGE number of different flavors of Christianity, ranging from ultra-uber-liberal, to ultra-uber-conservative, to symbolic, to literal, etc..., I think that even Christians would have trouble getting along in a Christian sub-forum.

please tell me where I said anything about a Christian sub-forum?

I mean we have a gaming sub-forum, what does that have to do with a gun website? I hate video games and find them to be a problem in the United States. However you don't see me complaining about it. I just choose to no click on it.

This answer is very simply answered. If even only one person thinks it is a good idea, then they should submit it to the forum owner. If he approves it, it was meant to be. Because, that is ultimately who it comes down to. The forum owner.

Personally, I think a religion forum would go over like a turd in a punchbowl.

You're right, you never specifically said "Christian". The sentence that I've quoted from your original post, however, seems to indicate Christianity. Now I know that some folks eschew the label of "Christian", though their faith and beliefs stem from the teachings of Christ, and if you are one such, I apologize if I've offended you. I am, however, using "Christian" as the general population understands it.

There is an outside chance that you meant the "the one true and living God" of Judaism, Islam, or some other religious tradition, but that phrase is one that I'm used to hearing from Christians.

I have to agree, SLV....While I participate in the PV, I would not lose sleep if it went away. I'm already starting to spend more time in the other forums.
Non-gun issues (except for Chatter Box) tend to cause us to lose focus of XD Talk's original intent, and a loss of general comradery, IMO.

I say no dice.

What would be the point?

If you start an honest thread dealing with God or the likes and it gets derailed by someone, ignore that someone and continue on.

We have threads here all the time asking for 'prayers' and what not that go over well. If you don't offer and prayers, offer your thoughts.

How many sub-forums do we need?

Lets get a music section, and a movie section, and a sport section, yada yada.

I like the chatterbox the way it is now.

All the above is obviously IMHO.
