I vote yes--put it down in the Basement with the PV. We are complete people who visit this site and a religion subforum would be nice to round the place out a bit. As long as the users maintain a bit of class and respect for other's (often contradictory) beliefs it would be an interesting place to visit. As constant advocates for personal responsibility in the use of firearms, you might not agree with the material presented, but you should already be familiar with the concept that your response to said material is entirely within your control. Those who don't want it can stay out; those who choose to visit can act like adults and abide by the CoC or accept the consequences.

Isn't this a gun forum? I've seen other forums try to go down this road and it hasn't ended well. The religion section ends up being removed.
However, if you do feel the need to go ahead with this, please make it so that you have to select membership in it such that posts to it won't show up when I click on [new posts].

I voted no in that I thought that we had it pretty well covered with the PV. On reading the replies, I'm thinking that yes might have been proper as long as it was open to ALL religious views.
I'm like Bert Faver, though... I'm still waffling...

I'm curious...will it be a 'religious section'...or a 'Christian' section? Makes all of the difference in the world, IMHO. If it would be an open-ended religious section with ZERO tolerance for discrimination regardless of how off-the-wall you consider someone else's belief, you have the support of this non-believer.

I'd say no for the following reasons
The server for which I contributed $35 for and which was supposed to end the downtime is constantly down and can't seem to handle what is here already. One more forum might start a fire which could wipe out the entire west coast.
I doubt you would ever be able to get the attention of someone capable of this administrative action, and I don't want you to be disappointed.

Where did the OP mention "atheist trolls?"
What if you're not a God-fearing person, but a God-loving person?

"Atheist trolls" are like "activist judges". They disagree with you, so call them names to minimize them.
In the case of this thread, "atheist trolls" sets the tone for what some of the interaction might be like in a Religion forum. If I disagree with the notion of any god/supernatural force, I am considered a troll. Somehow, if I am religious and inject religion into a non-religious discussion, that's just my "faith" and "witnessing" rather than "trolling". Granted the inverse is true as well. I've seen atheists, agnostics, etc... behave just as defensively and hypocritically.
This is part of why I'm doing a Bert Faver on the notion of a Religion forum.

You can expect divisiveness. It goes with the territory.

This is a gun forum right? How far are these sun-forums going to go before we have a sub-forum for everything? There is a forum out there for everyone, no need to clutter this one up with useless sub-forums. If you want to talk religion or whatever else, go to that forum. Not here.

A religious forum seems like it would go no where good.
