The "official" unofficial Arizona Thread

Any questions/comments/conversations/etc. related to Arizona & Guns!!!

Thought I would try this out thanks to the idea of gunguy556 who suggested it in the Hi from Phx,Az thread in the new member welcome center thread. Sounded like a pretty good idea to start a regional thread.

Lets discuss anything pretaining to say-

open carry law
ccw
desert shooting
local gunsmiths
shooting ranges
meetups
etc., etc., etc.

So post 'em up, and lets see how this goes!!!! Thanks everyone.

maybe we should setup a regional section.

well i went shooting not once this week but twice. my bro the first time and my girl the next. first time was at ben avery and the second at shooters world. only had one failure to extract with my xd with winchester white box which was good considering i shoot over 400 rounds

how many total rounds do you have through your xd?

There have been roughly 1k fired through my xdm (not all by me, gf, family and friends have all tried my xdm out!) with not 1 single ftf or fte!!

I still have not been to ben avery, I have only been to shooter's world. Boy I tell ya, they offer an annual membership with unlimited range use, I should have just purchased that to begin with. I must have been there at least 12-14 times by now! and I wasn't even able to get a lane everytime.

A regional section would be nice, I couldnt find anything like that on this forum, that's why i started this thread

the only time i had a FTE was with my suppressor attached. around 1000 rounds through my XD.45 , all me baby. was there any carbon and such in the extractor claw? I have been to shooters world a few times and to avery alot. but avery wont let me shoot at steel plate for some reason?lol. so when i visit family up in prescott there is a place past paulden on highway 89 i go to. its state land but shooting is allowed.nothin like putting founds through 3/8" steel. oh yea! this is the link to google for a satellite view paulden - Google Maps
there is a gate but it is not locked. just keep it closed and of course clean up when your done.

does anyone know of a simple way to find out possible areas to shoot legally outdoors? Say for instance if you think you have found a new spot and want to check if it is ok to shoot there or not, who could you call? what info would you need to give them? or a website to check?

check a map and find out what county its in, then i would contact the law enforcement for that area on the non emergency line. and ask.

While I'm obviously in PA, it does seem AZ is a pretty good place to be! Just wish there was more water.

great idea starting this Az thread. One suggestion to maybe go a step further. What if we used this thread to post links for new threads we post for Az topics? That would avoid this one thread becoming a web of many separate topics. It might work nicely because anyone subscribed to this thread would then get a notice with a link to any new threads. Just thinking "out loud"
