I have shot numerous 642's, and numerous LCR's. While the accuracy was equal on both, the trigger on the LCR's were much smoother than on the 642's.

Yeah, I think I might pull the trigger (pun intended) on the LCR. Still thinking of the LCP also..

Thumbs up

LCR is GTG.

no probs w/mine so far...

trigger beats the pants off a smith... try LCR trigger back-to-back w/smith trigger. LCR wins. of course, you can always pay the xtra $$$ for a trigger job on the smith....

people doubted polymer frame pistols too when they were introduced....

Ruger's been makin' revolvers for a while now, darn good ones at that. I'd say you're making a safe bet on the LCR.

Really no comparison IMHO. The LCR is a monolithic front end "Alluminum alloy barrel" with only a thin steel insert for actual rifling inside the barrel. This design just screams disposable to me. Your mileage may vary.

I understand that this gun is not meant for excessive range time but I like a little more long term backbone in my firearms. The trigger feels better on the LCR. If you can't obtain a spring swap and polishing for your J-frame, S&W is now shipping J-frame Performance Center models with better triggers than the stock models for only $60 more than a standard 642 for example.

Would much rather have a J-Frame or a traditional ruger revolver.
