My only reason for not wanting to carry one chambered is that isn't it bad to rechamber the same rounds over and over again? This is my only gun and I dry fire practice every single day, plus I go to the range weekly but would rather not spend a fortune to keep firing my defensive ammo.

If that is your only reason, you should load up. Ammo is mae to be chambered. I clear my duty weapon every day when I go off shift. The first two rounds (they get alternated every other day) in the mag look just like new.
