It makes me wonder if he is not reminiscing of the medieval slaughter of Jews his institution incited, or the **** regime in which many of fellow Clerics were also complicit in?
I'm sure Etta will be along asking for proof.

What a positively ludicrous statement! Too bad most in the Vatican turned a blind eye to ACTUAL **** death camps in WW2 . It might have given them an ounce of credibility now. Name another country in the world besides Israel that provides their sworn enemies with food , water, and electricity. You should probably clean your bong. It sounds like you have been hitting it a lot lately.

Hamas Enacts Islamic Laws, Including: Amputation, Crucifixion, Lashes

Hamas members of the Palestinian Legislative Council in Gaza have approved a new bill “to implement Koranic punishments,” including hand amputation, crucifixion, corporal punishment and execution. Drinking, owning or producing wine is punished by 40 lashes, while drinking in public adds three months’ imprisonment. Several laws are directed against Hamas’s Palestinian rivals, including a law intended to inhibit non-Hamas negotiators by sentencing to death anyone who was “appointed to negotiate with a foreign government on a Palestinian issue and negotiated against Palestinians’ interest.”

The following is the description as it appears today on the Al Arabiya website:

????? ?????? | ???????? ????????? ???? ????? "????" ????? ?????? ???????

Headline: Hamas approves law of punishment by lashes, amputating hands, crucifying, and execution - in order to implement the Islamic Sharia law. Hamas members of the Palestinian Legislative Council approved in its meeting in Gaza a new bill proposed by the Hamas who have a majority in the Legislative Council, whose purpose is “to implement Koranic punishments.”

The newspaper Al Hayat of London reported on Dec. 24, 2008, that this step is seen as unprecedented, and has brought criticism and concern from human rights organizations in the Gaza Strip, especially as this law includes punishments by lashes, cutting off of hands, crucifixion, and execution… The language of the law proposes “primary and secondary” laws. Primary laws include: “Koranic laws, blood revenge, lashes, crucifixion, and execution …”

The text stresses: “These punishments will not be canceled or pardoned … except if pardoned by the victim himself… Section 59 of the law establishes that “punishment of death will be enacted on any Palestinian who intentionally does one of the following: Raised a weapon against Palestine on behalf of the enemy during war, was appointed to negotiate with a foreign government on a Palestinian issue and negotiated against Palestinians’ interest, performed a hostile action against a foreign country in a way that endangers Palestine in war or in harming political relations, served a foreign army in time of war, advised or helped soldiers to enlist in this army, weakened the spirit or the force of resistance of the people, or spied against Palestine especially during war.”

The punishment of lashes appears in many sections of the law. Section 84 states that: “Whoever drinks wine, owns or produces wine will be punished with 40 lashes if he is Muslim, and anyone who drinks wine, or angers another person [with wine], or causes him distress when drinking wine in a public place, or goes to a public place while drunk, will be punished with no less than 40 lashes and imprisonment for the minimum of three months.” [Al-Arabiya, Dec. 24, 2008]
Thanks blue...That's what I needed.

the united States....but hey, lets hear israels answer about blocking the red cross, and UN as well as EU doctors and humanitarian aide. I watched the goof ball spokesman from israel stutter on msnbc the other night when that question was asked, all he could come up with was 'we have let 50k tons of food and some medical supplies come through since the offensive started...and when asked by the BBC about the Norwegian military and civilian medics/doctors questions about finding traces of depleted uranium in strike zones, air samples and in casualty blood samples....doh, the guy got uncomfortable and gve a typical US politician answer to their question..vague and empty. So will israel be 'punished' for using a WMD as defined by the 'weapon with an indiscrimminit effect, U N Resolution 1996 16' since there is no proof of definaite 'military' targets. Remember the 'gulf war syndrome'?? remember all the children in iraq with birth defects in the regions where depleted uranium bullets were used...will israel help the the 'children of chernobyl' from the use the these weapons in gaza?? But the US will step in and protect and defend anything israel does...remember, apartheid israel can do no wrong...thats only for s.africa. And lets also not forget that it is against international law to colonized occupied territories too....a sh!t storm is brewing, and guess what country is gonna be right in the middle of it...europe is already starting to get a little taste of some it. Its all a bunch of crap anyway...wanna stop the death toll from rocket fire in israel from reaching 10 people..its an easy fix, give the israelis our illegal immigrant work force to build a taller wall, send US troops in to secure the west bank and gaza. Take the land away from both of the ******* kids that can't share. Then lets clean it all up and give to the native Americans, since we won't give up any 'ancestral lands' that belong to them....or just kill everyone in the middle east and be done with this crap once and for all, the world would be a better place....then we go to detroit, chicago, kalifornia, and DC and do the same...

And as far as criticizing the Vatican about the death camps and the murders of innocent peoples during WW2...its very hard to condemn a fascist country when you live and prosper in a fascist country...remember were talking about the Italians, not Romans...there is a difference. Romans pretty much conquered everything (except parts of Germania)...Italians had a hard time with Ethiopia...

Funny, the story contradicts itself.

Quote:
Cardinal Renato Martino, the Vatican's justice and peace minister, was quoted by the online Italian daily Il Sussidiario as saying the conditions in Gaza "increasingly resemble a big concentration camp."
Where did he EVER say **** concentration camp? There have been camps before in the past. We all know what he is referring to, but I do not believe he is talking about mass graves and gas chambers as well as large waste work areas and medical experimentation facilities, as well as large prisons.

The media took the quote, blew it up, and no offense Etta, but you ate it up without thinking twice.

I'm not defending the Cardinal, just pointing out the obsession the media has with everything.

So what your saying is they took the bait like a sea kitten hitting a catnip jig.

Fury continues to mount worldwide about the senseless loss of civilian life in Germany caused by England's callous bombing of German cities including Berlin, Hamburg and Dresden.

As of today many innocent German women and children have died in these utterly brutal bombing missions. And now there are ground offensives starting on mainland Europe.

The English have claimed that they are merely retaliating against the V-1 flying bombs being launched indiscriminately by ***** at their civilian population in London, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Coventry and other cities. The English point out that their enemy is sworn to its utter destruction and has used the missiles and flying bombs against its civilians without any regard to English loss of life. Moreover it makes the case that their own bombing missions are specifically directed to military targets that the German army has intentionally planted in the heart of civilian populations to try and deter English counter-attacks.
These points may of course be true - but they are utterly besides the point.

Of course England has a right to exist. Of course England has a right to defend itself. But it should ensure that its responses are PROPORTIONATE.

Peace.

In so far as this thread goes and the whole idea of "proportionality" ( ) this might be the epitome of posts.

Right. And how is this strategy working out for Hamas and the "Palestinian" people?

Hmmmm. Tell me when you are able to convince a dead Israeli that the homemade rocket that killed them was "ineffective". Good grief Etta. I know you're not going to be convinced to give up your convictions on this issue but perhaps you should quit responding. Unless you're one of those "whip me .... beat me, just don't make me see the light" types.
