Yes, why should Israeli citizens have to pay the price for a bunch of terrorists that launch unguided rockets willy nilly? Perhaps that is why Israeli's were outraged and decided to end a fight that Hamas started.

It's easy for you to sit here and say Israel's response is disproportionate. I have a friend who lives in Israel, and when I listened to her talk about hearing rockets hit the town next to her, and wondering when she'll hear the sirens in her town, and knowing she's got about 60 seconds, tops, to get into her basement with her family....Hamas isn't joking, Etta. They are dead serious about inflicting death on Israel. And they won't stop.

Tell your friend to try to get her government to treat the Palestinians fairly. Tell her to ask her government why they helped create Hamas to begin with.

The civilians that have been killed were not intentional targets, and Israel has been targeting Hamas targets and not civilian targets. Hamas on the other hand has lobbed thousands of rockets since the cease fire began blindly into Israel hoping to hit and kill whatever targets it can.

It seems to me that it is Hamas who has shown the blatant disregard for civilian life, not Israel.

If you were really concerned with the civilian welfare in the Gaza strip, you'd be asking Israel to occupy and re-settle the area. The Palestinians would then have electricity, water, fixed roads and infrastructure, etc. But then again your outlook on the situation isn't about what's best for the area now is it? It's what's best for your own conscience.

If you were a Palestinian, would you accept Israeli occupation?

I'm ashamed of people like Nancy Pelosi and others who think Israel is entirely justified.

Naive is advocating that Israel start treating those that are attacking them better and with more respect so they just will stop the attacks and start playing nicely. After all, that's worked out so well with them in the past, hasn't it?

If it meant that I could go about my day free from the concern that some SOB is trying to recruit my children to be suicide bombers, or that my government isn't going to do something that gets us all killed you bet your last dollar I would. The majority of Palestinians want peace. Many of them even lived in relative peace while residing in Israel before they gave back the Gaza strip.

The plight of the Palestinians is one that is fought by a radical minority Etta. If they were to accept Israeli rule they'd be given basically every right as Jewish Israeli citizens except the right to serve in the military, and maybe even more.

We see the same situation from totally different perspectives. The same comments about naivete and savvy directed at me could easily be turned around to wonder about your having one and not the other in this particular instance.

I know those civilians may live in a whole 'nuther world than we do, but having said that, maybe they should fight against the hamas militants that are lobbing rockets, hundreds in 2008 alone onto civilian areas, and shut them down. --> Can YOU imagine if Canada sent hundreds upon hundreds of rockets into Watertown N.Y. or Minneapolis and surrounding towns over and over? Would you want us to worry about the occasional civilian in our efforts to stop the attacks? <--

I hope Israel finds the strength and the "&%@! you all" it takes to flatten every hamas outpost, every hamas storage facility, every communication device, every hamas fighter and supporter. I pray for them to ignore our efforts to slow them down this time and I pray they are successful against those sworn to bury every Israeli, finally.

Let every bit of anger over any civilian death or injury be focused on those who have attacked on an ongoing basis a quiet, peace loving nation that Israel is. May every shot Israel takes find it's mark.
