Pete Townshend Knows Obama

We'll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgment of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again

The change, it had to come
We knew it all along
We were liberated from the fold, that's all
And the world looks just the same
And history ain't changed
'Cause the banners, they are flown in the next war

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
No, no!

I'll move myself and my family aside
If we happen to be left half alive
I'll get all my papers and smile at the sky
Though I know that the hypnotized never lie
Do ya?

There's nothing in the streets
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
Are now parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again
No, no!

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss

Hey, if the song fits, sing it. LOL, it certainly seems appropriate.

First things first ... my compliments for your avatar. Job well done.

Secondly, lyrics and Bible passages can be made to fit the context of a situation so long as the person listening can be swayed that way. The OP makes it sound like Townsend wrote this song with Obama in mind. It was released in 1971 (Who's Next album). Put your thinking cap on .... what was going on in 1971 that might have made Townsend and the Who put out such a song? Perhaps there was this guy named Nixon that maybe the song was possibly aimed at? Just thinking out loud here .....

I'm sure everyone's aware that Townsend didn't write a this song about a (at the time) 10 year old. However, if it fits today, well......

Time to lighten up a little bit KEV.

Perhaps ..... but this taking ideas out of historical context and applying them as if they were meant for today is disingenuous.

Perhaps I wasn't clear....Lighten up, Frances!

Religions of all kinds do this every day. It also applies to the Constitution. You have a problem with all of them too?

Isn't dispensationalism fun? God bless modern evangelical Christians, and their little dog too.

...Don't ask... It's been a long long day.
