I wasn't so much focused on the Obama part. I do agree with the general thoughts stated in the post about the similar goals of the Republicans and Democrats and the Republicans being more honest about it. However, I don't think Obama is a narcissist - confident, yes - or "dedicated" to European models of government - although it does sound like he wants to steer us that way.
