Creed Lyrics

Ok, so Scott Stapp is a cracked out loser, and Mark Tremonti is an egomaniac, but they're both talented and enjoyed a brief run together as Creed. I hadn't thought about Creed in some time before today but decided on a whim to go back and take a look at some of the lyrics. Stapp wrote most of the lyrics seemingly to cope with the overbearing religious upbringing that didn't allow him to cope with the real world when he was thrown into it. So, by default minus one... He's a whining little brat playing grown up. Taking a second look at the lyrics themselves, the similarities between religion and politics as entities unto themselves gets highlighted in interesting ways. I was listening today and wondered what you would think of some of the tunes as a backdrop to a political campaign?

Take a look at the lyrics without the music, and tell me what you think.

I just heard a Creed song today and wondered what had become of them. So Stapp has gone to the dark side?

I don't know if the songs would be a good back drop to a campaign or not. I think lyrics can say different things to different people.

Thanks for posting the links ... I hadn't an idea this website existed and it's pretty cool.

At the end of their run Stapp was getting so wasted and stoned before shows that he couldn't perform. He released a solo album a while back, but it didn't do so well. I think Tremonti is still with Alter Bridge, although I haven't heard much from them lately.

Hey it's gotta be better than Reagan choosing "Born in the USA" as his campaign song!

I never said there was anything wrong with Reagan. The implication was that "Born in the USA" was a poor song choice considering the sentiment behind it.

ChevyMan45 - "Born in the USA" is a vicious attack on the Vietnam War, it is very anti-American government, it's a horrid song for someone to use as their campaign song. Unless... unless Ronnie used it because he was against the US government and for the US people! USA!USA!USA!

As I alluded to above song lyrics can be interpreted differently by various people. I see Springsteen's Born in the USA song as a slam to the Viet Nam war and the VA system (then and apparently not much different today) and as song that speaks to the futility of that war but not as "very anti-government" song. Your mileage obviously varies from mine.

ha! to say reagan was against the US in any way shape or form you must be a total liberal. That man was great and he made great strides for this country.
