I think you have hit on the reason they chose this time to arrest Blago and end the investigation - before BHO stepped into the sh!t by making Blago an offer. Priority #1 is to keep the savior clean.

So far, Obama is clean of this. He may very well be entirely and honestly clean of this. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt here. However, he has been INCREDIBLY lucky with skating by all the scandals of Wright, Rezko, his birth certificate, Ayers, and his time as a lawyer. Eventually, everyone's luck runs out, even his. It's just the fact of life.

So far, there are 5 known, but not yet disclosed other politicians that will also go down on this with the dirtbag Ill Gov. I hope one of them will be Chicago Mayor Daley. That scum needs to be brought down just as the Gov was. And I hope they can do it soon. Time will tell if Obama is clean or not. But for some reason, I don't think it will affect him at all. So I hope as a consolation prize, Daley gets what's been far overdue for him.

Blagojevich is a sleaze and borderline insane - if not certifiable. We had the newly-released Nixon tapes last week. Now, this week we have the candid talk from the Illinois Governor. Is this how politicians act when no one's around? Or do they just think they're above the law?

Chicago/Cook County/Machine Politics at its very finest!!!

To all:
Let me be the very first to say "I told you so!"
That's how I see it, although Obama and Axelrod are saying different things about whether Obama ever had a conversation with Blagojevich about this. Obama would have been crazy to make any deals with this guy about his vacated Senate seat. The guy sounds unstable - and I'm sure Axelrod knew it. That's why Axelrod refused to work on Blagojevich's campaign for governor.

PAR FOR THE COURSE IN CHI TOWN.

They know others around in chicago, and illinois to a lesser extent, they dont care, they are demi gods, government kings. They cant be touched unless they are sloppy as all hell.

How do you suppose someone like daley exists. I mean its second generation political machine, untouchable. Do we have any reason to expect the crown will not be passed down to a younger daley in 20 years. Its a defacto kingdom.

I know guilt by asociation is very popular among you and your buddies but in
a normal society it just doesn't work like that.

This is the way it is in Illinois. Nothing new to those of us who live here. Blago is one of Daley's guys. Daley got him the governorship. Emil Jones, Jessie Jr., Obama, Stroeger are all part of the same game. There is NO differentiation between ANY of them... If you live here and know the players day in and day out.

Welcome to Illinois/Cook county politics America... take a big whiff...
