the next leader's definition of threat should be clarified.
congress is an assembly of *hores and panic at the slightest provocation.
A savory speaker, pulling the right strings, could have congress lap

we already have local leaders, (city, county and state) who act as though they listen to the people and even say they do but end up doing what they please 85% of the time inspite of what their constituents request. the federal system is just a mirror of the lower political structure.

we need representatives who listen at the lower level. then a change will be recognized at the higher levels of government. except for a miracle the mindset within our political system with take decades to reform.

i agree to diagree on the statement above. the strong argument for the all volunteer forces was that the volunteer force would be cheaper in the long run to maintain, since the training needed for the newer weapon systems required longer schooling and the 2 year draftee was out before giving back thru serving what was spent in schooling. this idea was just one of the arugments for this type of armed forces. then why not increase the draft to 3 years or 2 years and 2 years reserve? or for that matter just use the draftees in the less technological areas, cooks, infantry, transporation, etc, etc.
my point here is the old army of a professional officer's and NCO staff over draftees seemed cheaper.
lets remember either way they are paid.
when people risk their livelihood and security over arresting their fellow countrymen who they have been taught are anti-american then the interment camps will fill up.
i believe a draftee basic soldier might be more civilian minded and question the due process of completeing such a mission.
one could always suggest that such missions would only be assigned to the career soldiers.
my own experience having served for 27 years is most folks when threatened with loosing the security of a paycheck and security of their families might choose to go along with the game plan whatever it may be.
this is a strong human trait that our leaders know all too well.
i served with several NCO's and one Officer who stated if given the orders to shoot fellow american during protest they would refuse.
a very difficult decision to make for reasons aforementoned........
i'm not questioning the patriot spirit or bravery of our servicemen and women.
each one of them has a self interrpeted view of the political right and remember they are sworn to protect the Constitution and follow orders.
so with this in mind along with the paycheck/security of family issue, it would take a very informed, clear minded, resolute person to determine that the order to shoot or arrest americans was a breach of the bill of rights.
i truely hope our fine servicemen and women as well as our counrty never has to make such a decision.

i still support the draft and reserve duty to 55 yrs old like several european nations.

My concerns upon hearing this first and foremost were, if they're saying 20,000 it's probably higher than that and second, what is it that is prompting this all of a sudden? What do they know...

This worries me for sure....I hope the day I have to shoot fellow Americans over my constitutional rights never comes, but don't think I won't do it.

America is coming to an end, sooner than I thought it ever would.

It sounds like fear of a nuclear attack from terrorists.

Could be, it could be the "Biden Prophecy" comming to fruition, with the enemies of the United States recognizing we will have a very weak executive in comparison to the last 8 years.

Ruby Ridge has been in the news lately thanks to H-S Precision. The wife who was shot and killed by an FBI agent while she was holding a child probably thought her own government wouldn't turn on her either.

At Waco innocent women and children were killed by our government forces.

It's time for some of you to pull your head out of the sand. I'm not saying it is going to happen in this case, but be aware that it can and has happened.

To be honest, I haven't even read the article. I'm just reacting to the comments being made.

I think Obama being an unknown has everyone wondering what the next 4 to 8 years are going to be like. And now with Hillary being groomed as his successor, we have the possibility of 16 years of liberal anti-gun agenda to contend with.
