So he said all these things like the civil defense force and community service and earning money for college and all this crap. However, I never heard any specifics about what exactly was the problem he was trying to address and what exactly he was going to do. I just took it as a bunch of election bull$hit.

He has mentioned this defense force a lot, yet no specifics. I haven't got a clue what it would look like, or even if the government can legally wield such a force. The Constitution is quite specific about military and National Guard. Smoke and mirrors as far as I concerned.
That is the troubling aspect of this civilian defense force he has spoke about ..... I have not heard what problem it is supposed to address ... But in his words, we need one that is equal to our armed forces in ... Strength, Capabilities ... He has not said what equal is, nor whay it is to be used for

But did you understand my point? That it was a lot of election BS just to get people involved and get them to feel a part of sort of thing???

I mean, that is a bold statement to say we need a civilian force as well funded as the military. I took that to mean that after cutting the budget for the military, we need a civilian force to work on America as much as we have a military working on the rest of the world. That's how I took it, but what the hell it actually means is anyone's guess.

My hunch is that with all the other funding issues we have, this subject will be forgotten about and buried.

Absolutely, and I also hope it becomes a forgotten subject ... Primarily by his administration

If they ever did get the funding and support of this through congress and this did become a real thing, it is the day we see a revolution start in the streets.

Thank God I am to old and fat to be part of it.

More about this here:
Web faux pas: Plan leaked for 'civilian security force'?

Scary stuff. Hopefully the Obama Youth never occurs.

Quote:
Obama's selection of an advocate for mandatory civil service, Rahm Emanuel, as his chief of staff has further worried bloggers that Obama's plans may be more "requirement" than "encouragement."
In his book, "The Plan: Big Ideas for America," Emanuel writes: "It's time for a real Patriot Act that brings out the patriot in all of us. We propose universal civilian service for every young American. Under this plan, all Americans between the ages of 18 and 25 will be asked to serve their country by going through three months of basic training, civil defense preparation and community service."
Where is the outrage from the left on all of this?

Yes, that would initiate a Civil War, as the intent of a militarized force initiated by an executive in any country anywhere in the world is to serve one purpose and one purpose only, to install the leader as dictator for life.

State Defense Forces

States have their own guard, the State Defense Force, which is under their commander-in-chief, the governor. They are supposed to fill in when the National Guard is deployed and state emergencies occur. What Obama or any president should do is make sure the these State Defense Forces are better funded and well-prepared. We do not need a national civil defense army! Whatever happened to states' rights? There is hardly any individual state defense as it stands, but Obama wants to make another federal military branch? It sounds like another big waste of money, a danger to the citizens and unconstitutional.

State Guard Association of the United States, Inc.

Here is Alabama's State Defense Force site, for instance--> Alabama State Defense Force

And, the Texas State Guard--another example--> Texas State Guard (TXSG) Recruiter and Career Center
