I just left my fav gun shop and the owner said that if Obama wins tuesday he's jacking the price up on all ban subject items by 40-50%. Then when Obama is sworn in the prices will go up another 40-50%.
When I heard this I couldn't believe what i was hearing. This shop has had the lowest prices in town for as long as I can remember and they have a stellar reputation. Is this how other shops are hoping to screw people over?
Last time i checked the President can't introduce or make laws, only veto. If Obama wins then that's 2 less rabidly anti's that can vote FOR a ban. As it is there are enough Dems in Congress that are pro gun and don't vote the party line and keep the Ban that keeps getting re-hashed.
I'm thinking it's time to stock up on lowers.

While the way they worded it is suspect, they're going to have to raise prices as a natural expectation of what the market is demanding. You have finite resources, factories with 6+ month long back logs, and exponentially increased demand. It's a natural effect of the circumstances that prices will rise.

Just in case...

I've got ammo for pretty much everything listed in my signature except the .22-however, I don't anticipate much happening in my neighborhood. I do think I'll throw a little something extra in my car for a couple of days, though...

I would think rising gun sales would be a better prediction of an Obama victory.

A 40-50% increase overnight on "in stock" items, regardless of reason, is nothing more than price gouging.

Gun dealers are in it for the profit. They take advantage of the hysteria.

Wouldn't you? A business is a business. Just because a lot of people get emotional and stake politics around a particular industry doesn't mean that the shops shouldn't react to what the market dictates. When the market is in hysteria, and money can be made they'd be stupid not to raise prices when most of the year is slow for gun shops to begin with. Couple this with basic economic principles, and you get from point A to B. No sense being upset at the shop, get mad at the people that caused the frenzy and vote them out of office.

Of course, DM...But don't be under the impression the the gun industry supports our rights out of the goodness of their hearts.

do u think congress will call "big gun" to capital hill and grill them on price gouging? i dont think so.

i had another gun shop owner tell me that prices will go up 50% from his suppliers if obama wins. supply will be outstripped by demand.
