US helicopter raid inside Syria

YEP, things are getting interesting once again ... So much for the cut and run proposals that some want to support.

US helicopter raid inside Syria

Thomas Lifson
US forces have apparently attacked terrorist forces within Syria, pursuing them following their activites inside Iraq. The Jerusalem Post reports:
US military helicopters bombed targets in a Syrian border town near Iraq on Sunday, killing at least eight people, after global jihad operatives allegedly crossed the border into Syria.

The attack, which was not confirmed by the US military, was the first-ever reported American strike on Syria, which called it a "serious aggression." [....]

A government statement carried by the official Syrian Arab News Agency said the attack occurred at the Sukkariyeh Farm near the town of Abu Kamal, eight kilometers inside the Syrian border. Four helicopters attacked a civilian building under construction, firing on the workers inside shortly before sundown, the statement said.

A US official, in confirming the raid, said the attack targeted elements of a robust foreign fighter logistics network and that due to Syrian inaction the US was now "taking matters into our own hands."
This comes shortly after the reported meeting with Syrian officials by "former" (and probable ture) Obama foreign policy advisor Robert Malley

these kinds of things wouldn't be necessary if Syria would tighten their borders...

as it stands, i'm still wondering if sometime in the next 9 days the soldiers in the Middle East are going to come up with Osama Bin Laden...

things are going to boil over real fast in the ME...Israel is going to act quickly on iran if Obama gets elected. They cannot afford to wait with the prospect of being sold out by the US if Obama gets in.

If we get Obama in the WH, the ME is going to have a hay day...they all know this man is weak as hell and will not have to worry about US intervention.

Osama? he was in Denver for the DNC...sheesh!

I'm all for a "boil over" in the ME. Decades of poor foreign policy decisions in the ME have made it obvious that no one over there wants to make nicey nice. The only thing that is going to end the problems there is if one side of the table totally dominates, demoralizes, and destroys the other side.

One side wins, one is totally decimated will be the only way the problems in the middle east will end.

Not as long as the people in DC won't let them they won't, but on the other hand capturing or killing Osama just before an election could save the day for the republican party.

People claimed they would pull Osama out of a closet just before the 2004 election ... It wasn't needed.

Perhaps Obama will raise Saddam from the dead, convert him to good and announce him as a potential SCOTUS judge, if elected.
The left would love him

I am very curious as to why they actually landed troops to take action rather than doing a Predator strike.
