You better gamble and use them today ... They could all be suspended tomorrow.

but I JUST finished paying them all off!!!

If they suspend them, it won't be right away. There will be enough warning signs that will let me know that it's time to drive 2 miles to the gun shop and stock up.

Anyhow, citibank and Bank of Mexico are the banks that are buying the failing banks, so that should buy me a little time...

Keep in mind that banks who stayed out of the sub-prime mortgage business are posting record profits.
$700B distributed to the people to eradicate their debt, even if taxed (let's say at 40% so `$400B cost) would eradicate both the credit issue and make a sizable dent into the mortgage issue.
Maybe it wasn't such a good idea for people who work at Starbucks to buy (instead of rent) after all...
Sheesh.
And here is my out there half baked I'm not sure I believe it thought of the day- this is a further marker of the success by the terrorists on 9/11.. The Fed had their eye on the wrong ball... They were consumed with Patriot Act matters instead of regulating crooked mortgage brokers who were making transactions the Fed insures via FDIC.
Furthermore, the tax base in large cities is going to be off by 5-20% this and next year from all the people in the financial sector who are going to be laid off or have their salaries drastically reduced.
Bright side is this forces growth of the middle class.

They were paid very well to know exactly what was going on and not care.
