You're right, one man does not have this much absolute power. My point was that they act independently of any other branch of Govt. and theoretically without influence from them as well. Bush the 1st berated the Fed publicly when they would not act as he wanted many times to no avail.
Got it.

The funny thing is that the Pres really does not have that much power good or bad to influence the economy. Everyone just like to praise him when it's god and blame him when it's bad. The respective parties take it from there.

The funny thing is that Obama is doing everything in his power to tie McCain to Bush, and therefore everything evil. He tries to paint McCain as a Washington insider that has had his hands on the reigns of the economy.

Let me get this straight, SENATOR Obama, is claiming Washington Bush and McCain is to blame??? I'll let that sink in a moment.....

What f'n legislation has Senator Obama produced to do anything about the economic downturn? What has he been doing with his time in office as someone who is in the position to actually do something about it.......

Oh ya, he's been on the campaign trail bitchin' about Washington not doing anything!!!!!!!!

He has the "right" to claim this as he's not been in the Senate too long, has voted "present" quite often, and the other 97% of the time has voted strictly along party lines. I guess it's easy to cast stones when you don't bother to show up much in the glass house.

The breeze wouldn't bother me that much either if I were never there.

And on a serious note, one could argue he is more interested in talking, than he is in actually doing. One could also go a step further and say he shirks his responsibilities he has to his constituents.

OR ... what one candidate might have been doing over all these years might also make him a part of the problem.
