Good analogy. Sharpton is a tool as well. Major tool.

Intolerance is the word of the day with the evangelical element of the Republican party. Do as they believe or you're immoral.

Sometimes I wonder how much more the White House and Congress could accomplish for the AMERCIAN people if they focused ALL of their energy on the American people as a whole rather than their own and trying to legislate their own beliefs on the whole of the country. They do not have a monopoly on morals. Their morals are their definition and their bible's definition.

My experience is that they don't even follow the Golden Rule in so far as they will not give you the time of day if you don't follow their way. Even if you treated them as you would be treated yourself.

To qualify my opinion, I grew up in a born again Assembly of God world. I was raised in Modesto, CA which is in the middle of the California Bible Belt Central Valley and my life was centered around that life and their beliefs until I was old enough to leave my parent's house. I experienced equal levels of deceipt, lies, cheats, false witness, adultery and malice as the general population in those years. They are no better and no worse than the general population when it comes to immoral human propensity and even crime. They just have Satan to blame. They are gay, cheaters, abusers, drug addicts, thieves, you name it. Just like the general population that they believe is going to hell.

My father beat my mother if she didn't give him his nightly barbiturate that she had a prescription for all the while calling himself a Christian and banishing me for drinking beer or smoking pot. I had to stop him from abusing my mother nightly from the time I was old enough to know he was beating her if she cut him off from her pills. My grandfather, a big shot in the Full Gospel Business Men's Association was a closet alcoholic. His only son, a self proclaimed Christian, my mother's brother, died from an accidental overdose because he was so drunk he forgot how many pills he took. They found him in his car on a hot day in Portland, bloated like a whale two days after he died, with the windows rolled up. My dad used to pick up on the 14 year old babysitter when he thought I was asleep. All these people called me unfit and a sinner and not good enough to be their son and grandson because I didn't accept God as my personal savior. I also drank beer and smoked pot as a late teenager. The parents of an early teens girlfriend of mine concocted a story throughout the church that I stuck a garden hose in their window and flooded their house because they disallowed me to date their daughter. I was 16 years old and the only crime I ever committed was not being a good enough Christian boy. I never damaged any person's property in my life except to toilet paper someone's house. By the way, her father was a deacon in the church. I didn't do it. In fact, their washing machine hose burst.

Sorry for ranting but, "they" do not have a monopoly on goodness and fairness and morals and civility. They wear blinders and do and think as they are told all the while they are the same as any other human being and should save the judgement for God.

Dobson and everyone who believes like him are to be judged by me, not just God. It's my right to consider him a tool and a self serving POS.

For a "tool" Dobson has a huge following, and can have quite an influence on the election...

Quite frankly, the take over of the Republican party by the religious right has ruined it. I'm just as sick of the RR telling me who should and shouldn't be allowed to marry, as I am of Tom telling me I have to respect his di(k sucking skills.

I don't give a rat's a$$ who Dobson endorses. If the religious right want to dictate how the country runs from the pulpit based on "their" interpretation of some book, let them reform the Puritan party to do it. Last I heard in school was that this country was founded to get away from such BS. Then they can let the Republicans get back to "SMALL" government and fiscal responsibility.

While i am not a huge fan of Dobson, he does have influence in the Christian realm, he is no lightweight. Despite what you think of him, he brings votes....

People bring votes. Dobson can keep his agenda. The Federal Government has no place in the morality business.
