In my opinion, McCain floated the idea of the pro-choice running mate in order to continue to mislead people that he is a moderate or independent Republican. Many voters believe that McCain himself is pro-choice. It serves McCain to keep voters guessing about his true stance on abortion. The truth is McCain is solidly pro-life and has no intention of choosing a pro-choice running mate.

It's virtually a deadlock averaged over all of the polls. Let's see who gets a bounce based on VP choice and the respective conventions.

Anyone who has looked at his position, and especially anyone who watched the Saddleback forum knows his position is pro-life, and there is a thread where the pro-choice/pro-life is being discussed.

So Etta ... Do you have anything to say about the poll numbers ??

Yea, there isn't much to do until the VP's are announced ... But I gotta admit ... I really want to see these guys in a debate.

I'd like to say that this was probably the best format for political debate I've seen. The straight-answer, didn't-hear-what-the-other-guy-said style is awesome. I hope this is a model for future debates.

We have developed this skill by watching the politicians spout talking points that may remotely have something to do with the question asked (but not usually). My point must get out to the dumb masses (say it 3 times fast) and if I happen to answer a question along the way - even better. I don't need to "hear-what-the-other-guy-said" because if he/she disagrees with me, he/she is wrong. End of story - DEAL WITH IT!

Some polls show that more than 50% of voters think McCain is pro-choice, including 25% of the pro-choice women who support him.

I agree with Frenchy that the race is close and probably will remain so. The country is pretty evenly divided.

Got a link ??
I've never seen a poll that asked that, curious what else they might ask.
