My point was that higher prices lead to less dependence. You guys never defeated that point in ANY way. You merely said babies won't get diapers and poor people don't get fruit.

Then you started pressing me for solutions after not being able to defeat my original point which is high gas prices lead to oil independence.

Who's the real troll?
Wrong I directly addressed it and you didn't like it.
So being as you are a new member ... I let it slide.

Your entire set of posts equate to one simple thing, you are viewing this from a singular viewpoint, you don't care if people are economically hurt over high fuel costs, you have been countered on basically everything you have stated, and you still state that higher prices lead to less dependence without addressing the idea that those higher prices hurt people.

I've had these run-arounds before with people. You think of yourself and not about others. It's real simple ... Soon you'll be calling us pathetic because we complain about the price at the pump, you'll then tell us about the great things you do to conserve energy, once we get you to give up on the OIL IS BAD aspect of your narrow view and the list goes on.

Face it, you've been quoted. Your first post basically stated that you started this thread to stir things up, and .....

I guess you received your entertainment for the night.

I know you like oil.

I merely pointed out that the higher gas is, the more incentive we have to find an alternative. Do you actually have a rebuttal to this point?
To imply that is what we are dealing with ??

I for one hope that everyone out there that believes gas is a dying source of power goes out and buys up as many electric cars as the car companies can produce. The drop in demand will bring the cost of gas down to a reasonable level so I can afford to drive my F150. At least untill a truck type vehicle that can tow 10,000 pounds and go over 500 miles in a day is invented and the price on said vehicle drops to under $30,000. As it is right now I couldnt sell my truck if I wanted to because the value on used trucks dropped so fast it's gonna be at least 3 years before I'll be able to sell it and not loose my ass on it.

Gas prices are the reason. How high they are is the catalyst. You raise them, the faster we become independent. In the past 5 years the "green" market has exploded. Even in construction I'm seeing a demand for "green" buildings. This means things like recycle blue jean insulation. Recycled glass countertops. Appliances that get a certain energy rating. It's crazy the way things are going. And it's awesome

I'm very politcally minded, and I've noticed this board is super neo-con. So I figured I could have a lot of fun here.
Super neo-con.... that's a new one.

And you post that you're a construction guy yet your electric truck in the link is a Ford Ranger??? Love to see that pull a construction trailer or some heavy equipment around. Are you for real? Seriously?

No one has posted one because one doesn't exist. I didn't have time to read this rather insane thread in it's entirety, so if someone has already schooled this person on this very evident fact, I am sorry.
Also, I take 4 major expressways to work everyday. I live in a VERY large city. There is no way to utilize public transportation inorder for me to get to work. Every argument you use is so easily defeated. Are you and Etta related by chance?

Basically when you fry stuff with veggie oil the crap that remains...

You can buy conversion kits for a lot of different vehicles out right now..

but nothing from the big manufacturers...

I've always wondered about it.

And wouldn't mind getting some opinions on it.

For the sake of conversation.
I run b11 biodiesel every day. Sometimes I fill up with b20. I'm in the process of putting together an appleseed processor in my garage. I can get the waste vege oil at work for free. Should cost me around .80 per gallon but I'll still run a 50/50 mix of bio and reg diesel.

I don't need to rebutt that higher gas prices will cause us to look for other sources. Duh. Right now though, there is no other alternative that is cheaper. Also, there are conflicting accounts of how much oil we have, what is economically viable, and wether the current market is artificially inflated.

Now answer me this. Why do we need to get off oil???

I'm all for the liberty to own an SUV... if you can afford it. But I'm kind of extreme on this whole liberties thing. I absolutely despise abortion, but I'm for a woman's right to govern her own body. Would I ever consider it? No way, and I'd do my best to talk someone out of it.

So it's not a matter of personal liberties. It's a matter of economically pushing people towards a better goal. Why did we stop make steel cars? Because plastic ones are safer? No. Because they're cheaper. Money speaks, and it'll speak even better the higher the gas prices.

This is like hitting a hornets nest with a stick
So you are playing thread Loki hey?...Cute

Just to piss of the social planners If I were to invest in a new vehicle it would be a huge '99 suburban diesel with an 800hp turbocharged cummings drop-in and some biodiesel equipment for the house. My wife has had her eye on a Jetta TDI which I could drive to college so people would think I'm like totally actually hip and that I'm trying to stop manbearpig from destroying the planet. I'd be all incognito.
