Daley defends shootings?

Daley downplays shootings near Taste -- chicagotribune.com

Second year for shootings at Taste of Chicago but this really sounds like da mayor is defending the gangs... maybe it's just me..

Those wacky Teens, what else are they going to do when they're bored?

Remember, it's the law abiding citizens having guns that freaks Daley out. Gang bangers, apparently not so much. Boys will be boys after all.

Wow. The way I see it, of course he will say that. How can he call for more gun control if the gangs stop shooting each other?

I like how he said the shootings were "off site" of the event... He is so full of crap. The shootings happened AFTER the event, at the end of the night when about a million people, literally, were walking west away from the lake front. If you saw the video that was shown locally, you'd know what I mean. The streets were packed as far as the eye could see. If you've never attended an event with that many people involved, it's hard to describe the huge mass of humankind. There are police HEAVILY on every corner so it comes as no surprise they caught the perps instantly. The mayor is as dumb as a box of rocks. I'm surprised he didn't come right out and say, "they're good boys", which is the same crap you hear the mama say on the news after her gang banger son was just made a grease spot on the concrete.

because the failure of the government in the first place (in allowing criminals to run free, and giving them unarmed victims to assault) will lead to further restriction and more laws, thus requiring more government interference to 'finally fix' the problem.

government is like those do nothing machines... my grandpa has one. you sit there and spin this little arm and it moves the rods one way, then it moves them back, and over and over. it doesn't matter how fast you pull it or you reverse the direction, itjust does nothing.

According to the mayor, Grant Park is safe. However, going to & from the park is not. And whatever you do, don't stand at a bus stop!
