Dems are really reaching now

Here's a video showing Harry Reid try to show the "evils" of fossil fuels. I think the left is becoming very desperate to try to get people to give up the fight on drilling for oil so we can move to that magical alternative fuel that they always talk about but can't seem to provide any background on what it actually is.

And yet this Democratic congress cut tax incentives for alternatives fuels. Like an earlier thread said, "The only good alternative fuel is no fuel at all".

Figures... everything we have in this country is because of fossil fuels. Everything. From the very beginning until now, oil, natural gas, coal, have given us the means from which we have built this country into the only world superpower. The very freedoms and luxury's we have fought and worked for would not be possible without them. It figures a liberal would find a way to badmouth the whole of it all and try to make us feel guilty about it.

FOOLS... all of them.

Dear ducttape2:
Thank you for contacting me with your opposition to a carbon cap and trade system or carbon tax. I appreciate the time you took to send me your views on this issue. It is an unfortunate fact that we are overly dependant on oil. As long as we are so reliant on this finite natural resource, I believe we must create deterrents for further exploitation of carbon-based energy without punishing those who are forced to purchase carbon-based energy, but rather target those seeing an excess profit in this market.
Although I appreciate your comments, I remain in support of HR 2069, the Save Our Climate Act. This legislation establishes a carbon tax that would impose a $10 per ton charge on coal, petroleum and natural gas when the fuel is either extracted or imported. The charge would increase by $10 every year until U.S. carbon dioxide emissions have dropped 80 percent from 1990. Carbon prices must rise in order to reduce our dependency and promote clean alternatives, but it should not be the oil and gas companies who reap the benefit from these price hikes. The revenue brought in by a carbon tax would be reinvested into the development of alternative energy. HR 2069 invests in the environment without punishing American consumers.
I appreciate your comments on this issue, and will keep your thoughts in mind as the 110th Congress advances further energy legislation.
Here is the response I got from my Congress rep. "Bagdad"-Jim McDermot, He wants to deter all use of carbon fuels by taxing them and at the same time not punish people who use it. WTF??

Name me a product or service in our economy that does not require some use of oil in order to produce and sell? What "viable" alternative fuels are available?

These people want to control the economy. They understand that our economic engine is oil (energy). That allows us to be productive and efficient.

Watch as things get nationalized!!! This is facism.

This is nothing more than the next great bank account to cash in on. Can you imagine the tax revenue flowing into the government over such measures??? As always, the government seeks greater sources of income to save us all from ourselves and wrap it all up in a great big blanket of "We care".

Same BULL****, different day.

I couldn't agree more. This is another market being created in order to be exploited. Carbon credit trading IMO would make the Internet and Real Estate bubbles combined look like a little blip on the market.
