Eight Reasons Why High Gas Prices Are Good

Behold, the great things that will be the salvation of the world as a result of gasoline that costs double what it does today. The author of this article feels that gasoline costing $8 a gallon "would be a catalyst for economic, political and social change of profound national and global impact" He goes on to state that "Consider the world of good that would come of pricing crude oil and gasoline at levels that would strain our finances as much as they're straining international relations and the planet's long-term health"

That might work in theory in his utopian vision, but I don't think that people that are living on the brink of poverty as it are gonna buy into this. An economic and social change of profound national impact will surely occur. There are people siphoning and punching holes in gas tanks as it is at $4/gallon, imagine the social and economic change at $8/gallon. Here are the great eight things that will result in $8.00 a gallon gasoline. WOO HOO!!!!!

Eight reasons you'll rejoice when we hit $8-a-gallon gasoline - MarketWatch

At first I thought Ett...someone else posted this and it was meant to be serious. Love the underlined part the best. In the meantime we can all weave baket and grow organic gardens while singing Kumbaya.

What color is the sky in this guy's Utopian world?

2. Economic stimulus
Necessity being the mother of invention, $8 gas would trigger all manner of investment sure to lead to groundbreaking advances. Job creation wouldn't be limited to research labs; it would rapidly spill over into lucrative manufacturing jobs that could help restore America's industrial base and make us a world leader in a critical realm.
The most groundbreaking discoveries might still be 25 or more years off, but we won't see massive public and corporate funding of research initiatives until escalating oil costs threaten our national security and global stability -- a time that's fast approaching.

I saw Road Warrior at a drive in movie theater in 1983 and even back then as a dumb ass 19 year old I thought "damn". Here I am now ... an old fart and I'm thinking ..."damn" again. The primary difference between then and now is I have lots of ammo and good guns. If the bad guys want to wear shoulder pads ... well OK .... you just make a bigger target!

Wow, that sure is a streatch. $8 gas will not creat manufacturing jobs, it will shut manufacturing down.

Hey!...The price of gas finally gave me a rational reason to consider buying a motorcycle!

If your vote is for the lessor of two evils, then you can be comforted knowing that you're less of a fu*king idiot than the other guy!

I still have the note on my 2006 GMC 3500 Crew Cab dually, which I have driven a grand total of 2600 miles or so in the last 10 months. It was my daily driver. Now I have an Imapa that gets 30 mpg hwy to drive daily....

I have to have the truck, as I need a 1 ton to move my trailers.
