A different religion survey

Not by me.
A SelectSmart.com quiz on comparative world RELIGIONS and spiritual belief systems.

Conservative Christian
is my top match
on the Selectsmart.com
quiz:
Spiritual Belief System Selector
by SelectSmart.com staff

Take this quiz

It seems to be pretty good, but for many questions it gives you the option of only selecting one option when there is more than one valid answer.

and on a related topic... proof that Democrats (or at least the majority) are Godless--although some would argue that politics is their religion.

That quiz was interesting. It can be really had to agree with any of the multiple answers depending on how they are written and phrased, and what explanation they lack. Nevertheless...

Mainline - Conservative Christian Protestant (100%)

Secular Humanism

On many points I think that is accurate, although I think differently on several issues per the defintions given after the quiz.

I think there are "evil" people, but not due to a supernatural reason. They are just wired wrong and do things that are not in the best interest of anyone else on the planet. That isn't an excuse though, they (those that are evil) should be shot into space without a ship or suit. Screw em!!!!

I think that abortion is wrong and there outta be some protection provided for the people that aren't born yet and haven't had the opportunity to protest thier impending death. Aborition has become an "easy solution" for far too many people that have no sense of responsibility. I am sure there are cases where aborting a pregancy may be necessary due to medical reason and/or protection of the mother. But just as a means to correct poor judgement.... Uhhh no. People need to get thier sh!t together and not put the peg in the hole if they are not resonsible enough to accept what may happen as a result of thier actions.

I am not too keen on homosexuality. If someone wants to go down that route, thats fine. BUT, don't expect everyone else to accept it. There are alot of people that don't like, want nothing to do with it and think its abnormal. No matter how many parades or events are held. Keep it private. And just to be fair, I am not a big fan of heterosexual public display of affection. So... do what you want, just don't do it out in public. I love my wife and I will love my kid when she comes, but I don't slobber all over my wife when we are out someplace. That's what home is for.

They have "peace and non-violence" on the list of things that secular humanists are big on. Well, peace and non-violence is great. Except during those times that require blowing the hell out of a place and turning it to glass.

"Secular approach to divorce and remarriage" I am not sure what they are getting at there. I do know that I think marriage is a commitment not to be made lightly. One must be willing to accept the other persons shortcomings, be able to meet in the middle sometimes when there is a disagreement, etc. Too many people get married and aren't willing to do what it takes to make it work. Then they get divorced and do it all over again. My parents got divorced when I was in the 6th grade and while I love both of my parents I see it as a character flaw on both thier parts. Marriage and divorce has become too much like buying something on impulse and trying it out for a few days and then returning it to the store. I think thats a detriment to society as a whole.

So "secular humanism" is pretty close for me as I don't believe in any diety, but I do hold a great many Christian viewpoints because aside from the diety part they hold alot of merit in my view. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

If my Mom found out I didn't score 100% Catholic her rosary beads would be worn down to nothing by the end of the evening!!! For the record ... Bahai for me. I have only the most vague idea of what that is.

My top 5:

1. Mainline - Liberal Christian Protestants (100%)
2. Unitarian Universalism (93%)
3. Bahai (90%)
4. Liberal Quakers (86%)
5. Neo-Pagan (85%)

Funny, I was raised Catholic, but only scored 40% on Catholic.
