I suppose anyone who wants to run for political office is a little crazy to begin with, but I'm beginning to wonder if Barak Obama is started to turn Captain Queeg on us.
I've started paying more attention to the little things that seem to get slipped by us, when Obama speaks. And, I don't mean the reverend Wright kind of stuff... but the little "Hello, lights on but nobody's home" sorts of things. Below are some examples of things I've gleaned from media reports and articles over the last two weeks. I'm sure there is plenty more if someone wanted to really dig deep. And, to think, Dan Quayle got run rough-shod for misspelling "potatoes" (sic): Early in his campaign while speaking in Selma, AL, Obama claimed that the spirit of hope derived from the 1965 civil rights protests in Selma inspired his birth -- in 1961. Obama also inaccurately claimed that the Kennedys funded his Kenyan father's trip to America in 1959, but JFK took office in January 1961. In New Mexico over Memorial Day, Obama spoke thus: "On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes -- and I see many of them in the audience here today -- our sense of patriotism is particularly strong." Meaning absolutely no disrespect to all our servicemen who paid the Ultimate Price, but did Obama really see fallen heroes in the audience? While speaking in New Mexico, Obama also talked about post-traumatic stress disorder by claiming he had an uncle "who was part of the American brigade that helped to liberate Auschwitz," and then came home and spent six months in an attic. Sounds great, except the prisoners at Auschwitz were liberated by the Red Army. Obama earlier made the claim on his campaign site that his grandfather knew American troops who liberated Auschwitz and Treblinka (also liberated by the Red Army). "Senator Obama's family is proud of the service of his grandfather and uncles in World War II - especially the fact that his great-uncle was a part of liberating one of the concentration camps at Buchenwald," campaign spokesman Bill Burton said in a statement. "Yesterday he mistakenly referred to Auschwitz instead of Buchenwald in telling of his personal experience of a soldier in his family who served heroically." Umm, okay. ----- Geography student? Just in the last few days, in Sunrise, Fla., Obama said, "How's it going, Sunshine?" Obama had a similar gaffe in Sioux Falls, S.D., calling it "Sioux City." (which would be Iowa, NOT South Dakota, BTW) When asked why he was badly beaten by Hillary Clinton in Kentucky, Obama claimed "I'm not very well known in that part of the country ... Sen. Clinton, I think, is much better known, coming from a nearby state of Arkansas. So it's not surprising that she would have an advantage in some of those states in the middle." But Obama's home state (MY home state!) of Illinois IS "in that part of the country" AND is more than "near" Kentucky -- it borders Kentucky. In Oregon, Obama said of his long campaign, "I've been in 57 states, I think, one left to go." No one in the press made much of this. Per former ABC political reporter Marc Ambinder, now with Atlantic Monthly magazine: "But if John McCain did this -- if he mistakenly said he'd visited 57 states -- the media would be all up in his grill, accusing him of a senior moment." ----- There have also been a couple potentially more telling and more serious errors: While campaigning in Cape Girardeau, Mo., Obama argued that our military's Arabic translators in Iraq are needed in Afghanistan: "We only have a certain number of them and if they are all in Iraq, then it's harder for us to use them in Afghanistan." Afghans speak two dominant languages - Farsi and Pashto, but they DO NOT speak Arabic. Last week Thursday, Obama, as reported in the Orlando Sentinel, said he would meet with Chavez to discuss "the fermentation of anti-American sentiment in Latin America, his support of FARC in Colombia and other issues he would want to talk about." (I believe Obama meant "fomentation" and not "fermentation" but that's another topic) The next day, Friday, Obama in Miami insisted any country supporting the Marxist guerrillas of FARC should suffer "regional isolation." This leaves Obama with the dilemma as to how a President Obama would meet with Chavez while keeping him isolated at the same time. ----- Bush certainly hasn't gotten any sort of "pass" on his multiple gaffes and blunders. If we are intellectually honest, we all know what a field day the MSM would have with all these things, had the person involved been a Dan Quayle-esque Republican, or an age-challenged Republican like McCain. I wonder why Obama hasn't inspired the attack hounds? Would it not be P.C.? Getting back in reference to the recent Thomas Sowell essay, can it be Obama is viewed as an Affirmative Action Presidential candidate? A Democrat "mascot"?

As was explained to me when McCain had another senior moment ... When you say many things and have thousands of stump speeches ... You sometimes get the words mixed up, or something like that.
Obama is a politician. He is expected to lie. The MSM now understands this and has decided lies and distortions are a non-story ... Unless Bush is on your side ... Then everything is a story Lift the carpet, push the broom Quote:

I was laughing out loud, when Obama went on about his "uncle" that liberated Auschwitz! What a hoot!
Whats next? Will Obama claim HE invented the internet? Did his dad fly to the moon? Unless you are the most hard headed of leftist idealogues...I honestly do not know how any sane, clear thinking person could EVER support this guy. Still, crowds just gobble up his BS and keep supporting the guy...amazing. We live in a country full of idiots...so we not? - brickboy240

i loved hearing the sound byte of Obama seeing people who gave their lives for their country in the crowd. Obviously it was scripted and he sounded like a jerk saying it. His speech writers need to be fired.
It's a sad day in America when a man who has no concept of what made this country great can be a front runner in a presidential election.

I appreciate campaigns are grueling, marathon-like events, but the Office of the President is a four (or eight) year marathon as well. Somebody this young has got to be sharper than this -- completely aside from whether or not you agree with his politics. And, the soft-pedaling by the MSM on all these happenings just does not sit right with me... Dan Quayle was roasted over misspelling 'potatoe' and he was about the same age as Obama.

I probably should have been a little clearer that I thought it was BS to give McCain a free ticket because he speaks so much. The only thing that differentiates the two is age. They both talk a lot. But that does not equal an excuse for what they say. All this "I mis-spoke" and excuse ridden follow-up is not an excuse, even if some are better at it than others. Hillary is actually the best speaker of the three, but that just means she is more practiced at deception.

Yeah, there was a golden moment for you "theres no left bias in the big media" types:
Quayle (who admittedly was not the brightest bulb) misspells potato and that footage is seen over and over on television. Obama flat out LIES about a relative that helped liberate Auschwitz and it gets no play from ABC, CBS or NBC. (for those that slept through history class....that camp was liberated by the Red Army...unless Obama's uncle was a Russkie soldier...chances are his relatives had as much to do with liberating concentration camps as mine!) Say what you will about McCain, but his misspoken words have not been NEARLY as outrageous as Obamas...and he does not have to make up any family military service stories to woo his audience. - Brickboy240

next thing Obama will tell us is that his great grandpappy was a signer of the Declaration of Independance. McCain with his flaws at least knows American history and what this country was founded on. Obama is a product of liberalism and affirmative action - and it shows!
