Yet another reason to build the wall

I am so glad I never moved to El Paso. Violence there, like many other Mexican cities getting worse and yet our government does nothing to keep this off our soil. What is it actually going to take for our government to wake up, get off their a$$es and do something?

Raw: Eight Dead In Mexico After Shoot-Out Over Drugs

Mexico's northern border town of Juarez, infamous for its history of drug-related violence, has gone into lockdown after an e-mail began circulating warning of an unparalleled "bloodbath" in the coming days. Shops, bars and restaurants have shut and soldiers are patrolling the streets, giving a surreal and dangerous tone to this city of 1.4 million people which sits just across the US border from the Texan town of El Paso.
Authorities are taking seriously the anonymous e-mail, which menaced "the bloodiest and most violent weekend in the history of Juarez."
The place is already reeling from a surge in murders that has claimed around 400 lives so far this year, several of them police officers and members of rival narcotics gangs.
The US embassy to Mexico has told US citizens that the message represented a "potential threat" and that public places, nightspots and the main streets in Juarez should all be avoided.
In Juarez, nerves frayed by the rising body count -- including at least 20 people killed over the past weekend, among them two policemen gunned down as they finished their shift -- have begun to shred in terror because of the much-forwarded e-mail, even though its veracity was unknown.
"We don't have any information to suspect that the e-mails are real," mayor Jose Reyes Ferriz said on Sunday.
Nevertheless, he said, extra police were being sent to those streets and areas mentioned in the message.
The army has already been reinforcing security in the city since March, though its presence has done little to deter the crime wave. Each weekend has seen an average of around 25 murders.
Municipal officials believe the violence gripping the city is the result of a war between drug cartels.
Reyes Ferriz had claimed early last week that the conflict was having no impact on life in general in Juarez. But the sudden evacuation of the streets after the e-mails paints a different picture.
One measure of the effect of the threat was the time it takes to cross one of the bridges into El Paso.
Usually, it is a trip of more than an hour. On the weekend, vehicles were crossing over in less than five minutes.

I wonder if sniper towers placed every 500 yards would be cheaper?

Hmmm....maybe, but then you'd have to make sure that, after you detonated the demo charges on the legs, they would fall exactly in line with each other with no gaps in between. And each tower would have to be 500 yards high to accomplish that. Nah--too impractical. It'd be easier just to build a regular wall.

Save the Americans--end abortion now.

This Land We Love

How beautiful this land we love
We cherish all good people of

With pride we call this home our own
Oh how our seed of freedoms grown

American is what we are
Our time has nurtured us so far

For truth and justice we do strive
Our laws are meant to not deprive

We know we’re not the perfect place
As we are of the human race

In God we trust along our way
His goodness near, both night and day

So please do stop and pray awhile
Ask help in facing each new mile

And now I’ll end with words so clear
Concerning freedom we hold dear

Let Grateful Thought – Well Deep Inside
For Soldiers Brave – Our Country’s Pride

Walls just come down or get comprimised. It is one of those politcally correct fairy tales. If you want a controlled border it needs to look like the DMZ between North and South Korea. Where there are drug cartels and Mexican Generals leading battalions of Mexican regulars under the paymaster of the drug cartels, expect the border violence. I have lived on the SW border, I have had a 200k bounty on my head by cartels just for doing my job, I have taken rounds from Mexican regulars bent on invading the U.S. and bringing dope here. It is a warzone there, an undeclared war, but it is one none-the-less. Mexican regulars desperate enough to bring narcotics in, will and have invaded U.S. soil, will and have fired on U.S. law enforcement. This is not new or shocking. I guess it is for the general public, because they never get to hear about it regularly. The media rarely reports on it unless they have a political agenda. Now, it is an election year, and they want to see how candidates will react when questioned about securing the border and border violence. Other than that, you'll never see it except on a local level.

It's quite simple, really...
If you vote for Obama, you are a fu*king idiot.
If you vote for McCain, you are a fu*king idiot.
If your vote is for the lessor of two evils, then you can be comforted knowing that you're less of a fu*king idiot than the other guy!

If you think that is a better move for you, then I say kudos. I am guessing it pays more, and if you have a family to support, transitions like that make sense.

My wife passed a couple of years ago, and the kids are gone. The change allows me more personal time...and a little more money.
