It's time

I consider myself a conservative, but I have to say it is time to get out of Iraq, it is time to end all foreign aid to Muslim countries, and it is time to tell the U.N. to take a hike and never pay a single cent to them ever again. It is time to drill in Anwar, develope the technology to convert coal into fuel, build new more efficient refineries. The rest of the world hates us, and always criticizes, lets see how they like it when we keep our money home.

Yea, I'm waiting on the details before I make a call on the OP. So far, I have yet to see a decent plan for withdrawal. And unfortunately I have also failed to see a decent plan on staying, laying out clear & measurable objectives and milestones, and how & when these objectives and milestones will be achieved.

Agreed. I think the whole situation is without a positive outcome. There is no correct answer, and either way has its deficits. You walk in the woods and half way there you run out of water. Do you turn around or march on? It's the same either way.

Show me an efficient and neat method for putting toothpaste back in the tube, and I'll show you a full-proof plan for exiting Iraq.

Point taken. No plan is fool proof. Even simple plans for dealing with daily business issues are subject to being changed. And warfare is certainly more complex and costly than any business plan. Nevertheless, it seems to me that our leadership should develop a clear plan for either staying & finishing the job (which requires defining the word "done") or leaving in a very short duration (i.e., withdrawal).

I've stated many times my opinion on the war. Without reiterating the whole discussion, I'll just condense it down to this - I supported our initial rationale for invading Iraq and neutralizing a perceived threat. I felt betrayed that we went from Mission Accomplished to Mission Globalization. With that said, my opinion is that we should layout a detailed plan of what is expected out of the Iraqi people / government and when it is must be done. We ought see a constant measure of our progress against this detailed plan. And we ought to apply pressure to the Iraqi people/government that we will consider "mission accomplished" at the end of the plan.

Obviously the plan will be revised and revised again as we meet challenges along the way that force us to struggle getting that toothpaste back in the tube. But our leader/president should be out there constantly pushing the details of where we are & where we're going, what we've accomplished, and what we have left to accomplish.

Instead we get an arrogant president that has resigned to saying 'the heck with you folks that don't support our effort there...and 'I don't have to explain it to you.' And we also have folks on the other side of the fence that say 'we must leave now' and yet have no detailed plan for how to leave, and no acknowledgement of what will happen when we do leave.

It's very frustrating!
