Leading House Democrat Maxine Waters Calls For Nationalizing the Oil Industry

Rep. Maxine Waters did not specify if this would be before or after the government takes over health care.

Here is the transcript of the exchange in Congress today with Rep. Waters:

John Hoffmeister from Shell Oil: I can guarantee to the American people because of the inaction of the United States Congress ever increasing prices unless the demand comes down and the five dollars will look like a very low price in the years to come if we are prohibited from finding new reserves and new opportunities to increase supplies.

Rep. Maxine Waters: And, guess what this liberal will be all about? This liberal will be about socializing... uh, will be about, basically taking over and the government running all of your companies.

The oil executives answered: "We've seen this movie before. It's called Hugo Chavez in Venezuela."
How absolutely frightening!
Democrats don't even try to hide their socialist agenda anymore.

As HotAir noted- this little socialist gem did not get any major media attention today besides FOX News.

Waters ranked in the top 10 of the dumbest people put in charge of this country. She probably has no clue what she is saying, but the idea is out there, and if the dems want to socialize healthcare to "make it affordable", they will do the same to oil.

Government does just about everything half as well and at twice the price (at least) of the private sector. Getting back into price-fixing and nationalizing industries would be just another well-intentioned but disastrous failure.
