They should look in the mirror. Congress is suspect #1 on why we are in the mess we're in. The oil compaines would have LOVED to have built more refineries, drilled domestically and provided even more real jobs here in America to workers...but nooo...Congress listened more to the Greens than they did the oil companies. They made it harder and harder to operate in America as the decades went on.

The oil companies told Congress for decades that this would happen. Throw in the other problems like China and India developing rapily and the ethanol debacle and this situation was inevitable. Its not as if we did NOT say this was going to happen! We warned them and they blew us in this industry off, completely.

Wanting to sue OPEC is the craziest thing I have heard yet. Typical of a bunch of pencil puching lawyers that run Congress. Clueless as to how to solve ANY energy problems.

Do they realize that most of our oil does not come from OPEC member nations? Canada and Mexico are not OPEC members and that is where we get most of our foreign oil. Ok...Mexico DOES sit in on OPEC meetings, but they are not OPEC members. Venezuela, Nigeria and Saudi Arabia are OPEC members, but OPEC...like the CEOs of Exxon and Shell...are NOT the ones to blame.

The faster we can get govt. out of the energy biz, the better off we will be. The longer we wait to do something meaningful, the longer it will take for gas prices to fall and the more expensive it gets. Do you think our clueless Congressmen will ever get this puzzle? I doubt it. this shows how stunningly stupid they are when it comes to the energy biz.

They are Educated, look at how well Teddy Kennedy has protected his two Oil Compaines. He has passed laws to shelter them from the Windfall tax. He also helped with the legislation that eliminated the 22% depletion tax credit for Big oil, but his two compaines were just small enough to Keep that 22% tax credit.

They also know most poeple blame the Saudis and big bad oil for the current costs, and that those are the two groups ripping them off. But it is really our Congress ripping us off on Oil....And them refusing to let us drill in some of the biggest reserves in the world, ANWR, Everglades, off the cost of FL and CA......Yet China is drilling 45 miles from Key West, but the American oil compaines are forbiden from drilling there...

You really need to make some phone calls, and get Congress to sue U.S. OIL

As bad as it might be, the people need to wake up, and a few Congressional people need to go to sleep

Dem Plan #1 for just about anything: run whining to the courts.

Oh crap...guess I better sell my stock in Microsoft. Microsoft had a profit margin that was over 2.5 times Exxon. That can't be good. Worse yet...CEOs at Microsoft are likely raking in huge compensation packages.

Tax them!! I want my health care and I'm not planning on paying for it

Oops! Sorry!
Wrong motivation!

A witch hunt! That's what we need. A good old fashioned witch hunt.
Tie those CEO's up, and throw them off the bridge. If they sink ... Fish them out and burn them at the stake.
Congress is so incompetent ... I watched part of the charade .... No thumb screws, no rack, heck they didn't even use the waterboard.

Yep...it's a political show aimed at duping Americans into thinking these crooked bastards are doing their jobs instead of lining their pockets with special interests' money.

Meanwhile, Cuba and other countries suck oil out of the gulf. We are likely sitting on enough oil in Anwar, the Gulf, and other areas to make us independent from foreign countries. We are in desparate need of refineries. We could be smart and take a two-fold approach of 1) striving to make us independent for the next 50 yrs from foreign oil, and 2) using that time to develop cleaner and more efficient fuel.

No, let's just keep pissing in the wind. Too bad we can't harness the energy that these fat bastards spend on putting on shows for our benefit. I thought there was a way of turning methane into fuel???

Not only Cuba, but China and Nigeria are also about to start drilling in the Gulf of Mexico. So now they are not only taking oil right off our coasts, the most likely will not go to the measures that our companies go through to prevent any kind of spills. The gulf coast beaches are going to be lovely in a few years. Costa Rica won't be the only ones with black sand beaches anymore...except their sand won't be stained with oil like ours. That could make one hell of a bonfire on the beach though.

From what I've read they are also going to be horizontal drilling right in to U.S. territorial areas in the Gulf unless stopped somehow.

The views from the Florida coast sure will stay pretty for a long time though.
