The judging thing is misunderstood. We cannot judge a person's heart - that is left to God. But we can and should judge their actions. In addition, this aspect requires no 'judgement', it's simply saying the institution is holy to God and is for one man and one woman for life.

Our elected officials LOVE the fact that we spend so much time and effort on distraction issues that have little chance of reaching sensible ends. This keeps us occupied so we don't realize how poor of a job they are doing.

Distractions are how we got to 4 buck a gallon gas, the horrible income tax system and the illegal problem we have today.

The stone cold fact is that two boys getting married in a state that I do not live in has ZERO impact on my life or the state of my family.

Again...its a distraction issue.

Nonsense. Judging a person's actions to make a value judgment about that person NECESSITATES knowing their intention or "their heart". Any basic lawbook will tell you that. Intention is at the heart of valuing action as criminal or not... good or evil.

Secondly, nowhere in the Bible does it say "do unto others." The Bible commands to do as God says, our whimsy, wants or feelings are not in the equation there.
Ummm...you sure about that?
Luke 6:20-31

6:20 Then he looked up at his disciples and said: "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.
6:21 "Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you will be filled. "Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.
6:22 "Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude you, revile you, and defame you on account of the Son of Man.
6:23 Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, for surely your reward is great in heaven; for that is what their ancestors did to the prophets.
6:24 "But woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation.
6:25 "Woe to you who are full now, for you will be hungry. "Woe to you who are laughing now, for you will mourn and weep.
6:26 "Woe to you when all speak well of you, for that is what their ancestors did to the false prophets.
6:27 "But I say to you that listen, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,
6:28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.
6:29 If anyone strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also; and from anyone who takes away your coat do not withhold even your shirt.
6:30 Give to everyone who begs from you; and if anyone takes away your goods, do not ask for them again.
6:31 Do to others as you would have them do to you.

Luke chapter 6 verse 31. Also, jesus taught to love your enemies, and that you are more blessed when people hate you. Seems to me like all this "christian" anti-gay sentiment is the total opposite of christ's teachings. Again, total hypocrisy.

As far as Hammurabi, he most likely got his law from Melchezidek - the "High Priest of Salem" who ministered to Abraham in the book of Genesis... I believe Gen 26 talks about the law Abraham had been followed, most likely Hammurabi was aware of it and applied it, using his god as a basis. In addition, the teachings of Christ have zero to do with Hammurabi's code, Christ taught Grace, not a code.

Your arguments are no better than their foundations.
Well, you'd have a point, if the bible could be empirically proven. We KNOW hammurabi and his code existed. Melchezedec makes 2 appearances to Abraham. Once in Genesis 14: 18-20, where he was called the "possesor of heaven and earth" and was tithed bread and wine. He appears again in Hebrews 7: 1-28, where he consecrates priests of the order of Melchezedec, and this is the only talk of any kind of law.
27

Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.
28

For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.

I would say that the teachings of christ have VERY much to do with the code of hammurabi, since the code predates christ by over 1700 years. read some of the laws, they've got things like bearing false witness, not stealing, laws against kidnapping, laws against robbery, and the Code of hammurabi predates even the 10 commandments by nearly 300 years! So there ya have it, a secular code, written by the 6th king of babylon, predating the 10 commandments (which many of those are in hammurabi's code) and predating christ. Of course you're free to believe what you want.

The Taliban reads their Holy Book with a different slant too. It helps in their decision making.

It's quite simple, really...
If you vote for Obama, you are a fu*king idiot.
If you vote for McCain, you are a fu*king idiot.
If your vote is for the lessor of two evils, then you can be comforted knowing that you're less of a fu*king idiot than the other guy!

Because Fritz says so!

Which further proves my point. Religion is full of hypocrisy. Religious organizations preach from a pulpit of moral absolutes and apply it relatively. Then they use that pulpit to discriminate against those they don't like.
