Of course they did. They were supposed to.

I thought sanctions were designed to impact government policy, and not the people that have no effect on that policy?

I think the logic behind sanctions is to get the populace so upset and discontent with the leadership that's bringing them upon them that they're more favorably disposed to regime change, either from within the country or without. I'm not convinced they're terribly effective toward that intended purpose, but it lets the UN give the appearance of doing...something.

The American abortion industry: helping rid the tired, huddled masses of their inconveniences and mistakes for four decades now. (But it's okay--the unborn aren't actually humans. What they are, we're not sure--but they're definitely not people.)

I sincerely hope for the sake of the people of that poor island that the Communist yoke they've been under for fifty years is broken soon. There are many folks in Florida who, I'm sure, would love to visit family and I'd like to visit just to see the place. Both the Castro Bros. are aging; I'm interested to see what happens when they both kick the bucket.

I agree. We need open dialog here, and stop adhering to the old, antiquated policies of 40 years ago.

I did not read this whole thread. But it appears that BHO took personal offense at what Bush said.

I liken it to this.

You walk into a room and shout "Hey Stupid". If someone answers they must feel they are stupid.

So BHO taking offense at talk about appeasement must feel he is an appeaser.

Obama can sit in church for 20 years and have no clue what his pastor says, but when it comes to a 10 second sound bite from Bush that does not mention his name at all, Obama seems to know everything.

I love politicians. Obama has a guilty conscience if he is so offended by this, he is obviously covering up for something.

And he has the balls to say he would win a foreign policy debate against Bush and McCain? This man has to wake up and see the (D) after his name.

I still think it's hilarious how one side can point a finger and it is bad ... But when the other side does it, it is good. WTF is wrong with people these days. Absolutely no accountability and when there is some, it is only clung to tight enough to make it appear intentional. Bottom line .. Total rejection of comprehensive thought via a blame someone else mentality. Why do we allow this to occur ??

Israel Serves as a Convenient Foil for the United States
You love to post articles written by liberal journalist and pass it off as absolute truth. Israel is protecting itself and her citizens. She is surrounded by those who would obliterate Israel not only from the face of the earth, but also from the psyche of the world if such were possible. Israel has every right to defend herself. Come in my back yard with evil intentions and I would do the same.
