You cannot negotiate with a liar until you totally control his choices...which isn't really a negotiation.

The United States creates enemies. Do you actually know any Iranian people? They may have radical leaders, but the people I know who have come from Iran are highly educated and pro-Western (which they probably won't be if we attack that country). Bush was trying to make campaign points for McCain (Bush III) using Israel (U.S. military base numero uno).

What exactly did we do when Iran held our hostages for 444 days? Did we do something to piss them off? What did we do when terrorists blew up hundreds of Marines who were sleeping in Beirut? We create enemies my ass. These people hate us out of jealousy. We have everything and they have nothing. So by using your logic, Etta, we create enemies because we are such a damn good country... because we are successful.
Just how bad do you dislike our country?

The insecurity the democrats displayed yesterday with their whining and moaning about Bush's speech speech volumes. It's also a double standard - the democrats travel the world trashing Bush and America, so, why are they complaining? America is hated because of our freedom. We have to defend that - with force if necessary...but i do not expect you to understand.

Etta, why should it surprise you that Iranian immigrants to the US would be pro-western? Why would they come here if they weren't?
Take a historical look at Iran and you will see they are a cultural pendelum, swinging back and forth between a secular, pro-western culture to a radical islamic state, and back every generation in recent history.

the left thinks America is always the problem. Blame is never put on anyone else. I wish they would just leave the country if they hate it so much.

Anyone who defies the U.S. becomes our enemy. Just like Hugo Chavez, not that I think he's a wonderful guy. This article is six years old, but it describes U.S. intentions in the ME, and it makes sense to me. Quote:

There are countries that are probably jealous of our success, but is that enough to make them attack us or hold our people hostage? That's a ridiculous assumption. They don't like us because we interfere in their business and want to control their resources.
