N.Y. Senator Pushes For Cameras On Cop Handguns

N.Y. Senator Pushes For Cameras On Cop Handguns

wcbstv.com - N.Y. Senator Pushes For Cameras On Cop Handguns
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) ― In a flash, a police officer draws a handgun from its holster. Less than two seconds later, a red laser and bright light shine at whatever is in the gun barrel's path while a mini-camera records it all.

That's how mini-cams on police handguns would work under a proposal gaining support in New York, which would be the first state in the nation to require the technology. State police were briefed on the technology and are reviewing it for a possible pilot program, said Michael Balboni, the state's deputy secretary for public safety.

Seems like a bad idea to me. I'm not a LEO, but it seems like we continue to add risk to their job. My guess is that this may cost lives...lives of LEOs that hesitate at critical moments where there are no second chances.

That's the idea ... If enough of them get killed in the line of duty ... Ignore the camera aspect .... They obviously need better equipment ... So shift some money and raise taxes!!

Damn that Rudy replacement is smart .. I'll bet he's never been photographed in his underwear, either

When in the hell are they going to move New York back to America?!

I'm sure the LEOs are delighted at the prospect of flashing a laser around to advertise their position. Good god.

I still like the idea of the 100 foot wall, and turning Manhattan into a prison .... and YES, I'd vote for it along with a fence diversion that makes Commiefornia part of Mexico

Interesting idea! Kurt Russell gets to run New York and we then have Arnold in Nazifornia/Northwestern Mexico. I'm starting to warm to the idea....

i'd rather have the government more restricted than the citizens, but this seems to be going overboard. even current technollogy, AFAIK, wouldn't permit a firearm to be camera-tized (word?) without significant weight addition, and they'd probably have to buy ever cop a new holster, and further regulate the type of firearm they carry(if they aren't already mandatorily issued).

i have an idea - make it easier for the law-abiding to protect themselves.

have one car drive down every street in NYC and blair these words...

"Citizens of New York will no longer be disarmed to criminal activity. Citizens may use deadly force to protect self and property from damage or theft, death or destruction. Criminality will not be tolerated. You have been warned."
