I do HIIT training on the treadmill for 3-4 miles, M-F. I am a big believer in cardio like HIIT training and don't stand around lifting tons of weights (jeez...thats boring). I am a huge believer in interval training.

I rarely eat fast foods and never drink sugared drinks like Coke or Dr Pepper. I do eat tons of pasta and fruits, but rarely touch salads. I don't drink protein shakes or take any sort of wierd vitamins or suppliments either.

For the most part, I eat normal foods in moderation and that and the excercise and no fast foods and Cokes is the key to not getting fat. It DOES get harder to stay thin as I get older..I have to admit.

Everyone has to find what works for them. However, most people would drop weight like mad if they dumped fast foods and Cokes entirely. I have to say since I dumped them almost 10 years ago...I do feel better, have more energy and no more stomach problems.

This is pretty much what I do. Interval and cardio workouts. I use weights in my circuit training, but lighter weights with higher reps for endurance.

I eat a balanced diet. I try to keep the fat content somewhat low, but you need some. I avoid a lot of deep fried foods but I have a thing for certain types of french fries and then there is always Buffalo wings. I don't eat late at night unless it's fruits/veggies. I eat small meals all day to keep from getting hungry. If I'm not hungry, I don't have temptation to eat half a bag of chips.

When eating the bad stuff, as stated, it's moderation and not very often. I like ice cream and everyone once in a while we do eat fast food, but we usually don't get the fried chicken meals. Sometimes we split so we're not even eating all that crap. We frequently will get one meal and a sandwich so we don't have two orders of fries and we go for the beverages with the lowest amount of sugar.

I try to eat as little processed and refined foods as possible.

My exorcise habits have to be a bit less rigorous because of heart disease, but my regimen seems to be working.

This thread is still going and now you're talking about diet and health issues.
I am glad to see it has turned into something civil and productive!

In this case, I might tend to agree!

Don't tell me you swallow that BullSh!T that ANYTHING that they are doing in Iraq has to do with maintaining our way of life. That is complete and utter BS and anyone that drinks up that patriotism BS is a goober. Our agenda there has nothing to do with freedom, our way of life, anything.

I wonder how many of you chicken hawks actually served in the armed forces. KIDS is RIGHT. ITS oh so RIGHT. You who haven't served have no idea. If you've ever taken a look around in a boot camp class and you see all the kids straight out of high school, yes kids. If you put us in civilian clothes and put us in a classroom, it would look just like the average class in high school. They are kids. They don't train their whole lives for combat. These are the kids that wondered why they were sobbing during their first call to home after a month into basic. I know, because I was sobbing right beside them. You get three months of boot camp and 6 months of a specialty school tops before you ship out. Train their whole lives to be warriors indeed.

They are kids, 17-20 year old kids. I used to be one of them. The way one looks at the world at that age is far different than you do now. You don't fully understand the consequence of what your doing until your actually there. I matured and grew a lot in the service, but that took well past the age of 18 to happen. But hey, what do I know, I was only in the service while I was 17 to 23.

For honor and glory to serve? Please, most people that are enlisted come from under privileged backgrounds. Lot of folks from the mid-west, a disproportionate amount of minorities, the kids who couldn't afford to go to college. A lot of us did it because they said they'd pay for our school, that we'd get a college fund, that we'd get health benefits and a steady pay check. Some of us just wanted to see the world. Its always a poor mans war.

I guess I can't stand to be in the same forum as chicken hawks and neocons anymore. Drink your Kool Aid, keep your head in the sand, and pretend all is well in this world.

Jkswiss is out of here, I guess the title of the thread is fitting.
Goodbye and don't let the door hit you in the a*s on the way out.....

You HAVE to eat bad foods every now and then. What kind if boring life would you have if you did not? Ok, if you're an athelete in training...maybe not so much but for the rest of us...you gotta have a good beer, dessert or a friggin cinnabun evey now and then of life is not worth living...is it?

Thats how I do it...if I happen to gain a pound in the process...no biggie. I am not going on the cover of Men's Health magazine and at age 42...well..it gets harder to keep the pounds off.

I want to stay somewhat fit so I can enjoy the retirement years but I am not willing to go totally heath food or beat myself to death to remain that way.

Neither should any of you. We should learn to enjoy life a little...shouldn't we? Otherwise...what the hell are we all working so hard for...right?
