While I agree with your statement there is little to no emprical data to back it up, reports from my mother (vistied russia) and reports from family friends (visited china) only come back with horror stories about how unsafe they felt and how much thier trip made them love being an american, but also missing things from airline baggage, yes things go missing here in the states, but it suspect when everyone I've talked to has reported some form of theft while visiting these countries(I've flown countless times in the states without a single incident of theft). They don't dare go out after dark and only go where thier guide takes them as the guide would warn not to go pretty much anywhere by them selves. Then you have half the world (or more) protesting humanitarian atrocities being performed in both countries. The social evidence points towards disorder and it dosen't take a rocket scientists to know that disorder typically leads to more crime.

I think it's a matter of perception when it comes to visiting. Many that come here feel the same.
I do agree that crime is probably higher in Russia and China, but you need to define what crime is in those countries.

It would be interesting to know how these stats are represented across the criminal justice system; reported crime rate, arrest rate, # police per capita, population density, immigration policy, etc.

It is very easy to throw a stat out there, but to derrive actual meaning is another entirely.

I would love to know what % of our prison population is related to drugs and are illegal immigrants.

I am not a socialist either, nor a Democrat. In fact, right now I am a registered Republican. I plan to vote for Ron Paul in the November election. Ron Paul also favors de-criminalizing drugs at the federal level, and thinks the War on Drugs is a failure.

If it wasn't for brave men and women picking up a gun and being ready, willing and able to kill those who would seek the destruction of this nation and the freedom it represents, you and I would be dead or enslaved by now. What would you fight for..........?

Our government is doing a good job at one of the few things the Constitution grants it the power to do: killing people who want to kill me. That aside, there is a mountain of things the federal government has NO business being involved in..........they could do a better job by ceasing, immediately.

No society is without flaws. But our form of government, a constitutional republic, is the best thing that has ever happened to anybody, anywhere. Where would you rather live...........? Are there any flights leaving today ?
