Shocking numbers for a "free" society.
What would really be shocking, would be for you to post something that was not anti-American propaganda.

I'd be happy to give Russia and China our problem.

The approach here should be two-pronged. Not only incarceration but also a good look at what kind of society produces this excess of criminals. I hate to sound cliche but parents need to start raising their kids and genuinely being their parents not just providers(sometimes). Look at the crappy stimulus our kids take in these days. Everything from music with shallow messages of false gangsterhood and conspicuous consumption, or this Disney/Pixar crap full of fart and ass jokes and stereotypical undertones and Hanna Montana. And does anyone really give a sh*t about Paris Hilton?

I'm sorry but I have to take issue with the statement that drugs are the problem. There are countries with far looser drug laws that don't have nearly the amount of problems we have here. Now if you were to say that dangerous cartels and black markets produce crime you'll get no argument from me at all. You could cut that out right now with adequate boarder security and the decriminalization of at least weed. It's the same conundrum anti-gunners face when they outlaw guns only to find a higher crime rate as a result. They find out what most of us have always known; freedom works and free people have the answer, not the gubment.

If we ever manage to get rid of all this political correctness and teach our kids what's important in life and as soon as people stop looking to the government for all the answers like they entitled to there success we will be far more prosperous and our prisons will have more vacancies. It has little or nothing to do with guns, drugs, TV or anything. The future is coming and that stuff is going to be there as will all temptation. Is has to do with teaching our kids honor and how to live and act in society.

Why is it sad? To quote Thomas Sowell in his column The Costs of Crime:

The relevant comparison would be between the cost of keeping a criminal behind bars and the cost of letting him loose in society. But neither the New York Times nor others on the left show any interest in that comparison.

I'll vote for Thomas Sowell, any day! He is a marvelous mental giant, compared to the nitwits that want this propaganda spread around on the Internet and elsewhere!

Etta, do some research. How does China, Iran, Iraq and Russia punish their rapist? I'll give you a hint; They do NOT imprison them! It's the same for many other crimes also, including drug trafficking and even homosexual behavior in Iran.

How do they handle hostage takers of any sort. Remember the Muslims that took the school full of students and faculty?

I could beat this dead horse all night but if you don't do your own research and education, you're doomed to the blue koolaide!

Perhaps after you read the suggested
article in Playboy, you might have another
outlook.

I am A "CEPT" for the Arizona Department of Corrections. A CEPT is Corrections Education Programs Teacher, I teach Felons Construction trades so they CAN get a job after release.

Business is good...

So China and Russia where willing to tell the truth about thier prison systems to this study group? I doubt it...
