It's not the fall that hurts, it's the sudden stop at the end. FOr this guy, it will be the slamming of the door behind him in San Quentin prison. I'm not into stereotypes, but...if I had to draw a picture of a "kiddie porn" freak it would look like this guy.
Agreed.

By the way YouTube can be a bit addicting ... one video morphs into two or three dozen more ... so here's a humorous one staring Ann Coulter.

I've heard that Ann keeps Catholic Priests in her basement as conservative play-things which she taunts with liberally suggestive .........

Can't ya just see her looking down at the victim and stating "It puts the lotion on"

Too funny! The next video was even better.

"If you're evil and blind, then I'm sexy! Let's destroy America together!"

LOL.

Times like this I miss our old pal (sorry, I know a lot were not here for his insanity)....he thought Ann Coulter was "the hottest babe on Earth". He also expressed a rabid desire to be allowed to shoot to death anyone HE considered to be a "liberal" (that would almost certainly include every active Republican congressman, of course every Democrat, and essentially leave him sort of like the Will Smith character in "I am Legend"....only happier. (especially if he had Coulter to keep him comfortable.....but chances are he'd be the odd man out if Limbaugh or Hannity survived).

LOL....yeah, now that you mentioned it....It's really too bad that in truth you cannot judge a book by it's cover though. While this guy looks like the freak he allegedly is, Ted Bundy (for one) was the opposite.

I have to wonder where medical ethics (I know there's a real term for this, but I'll let Frank or someone who cares to correct me "research" it - "bioethics"? something like that?)...will lead to when they figure out all the "freak genes"...brand them on the forehead? Make them wear GPS "ankle bracelets"? Cure them?

Like pretty much everyone, when I was in my 20s, I used to figure Pete Townsend and "The Who" had it nailed with "hope I die before I get old". Now I'm more curious about what things will be like in 100 years (or more) ....assuming mankind does not destroy itself. The acceleration of technology is so mind boggling. I just heard on the History Channel (or something like that) that today's typical cell phones have more computer processing power than the Apollo Spacecrafts. My grandfather was born in 1888 before there were cars and lived to see a man land on the moon....I could be wrong, but I think we've already far surpassed that same 81 years of tech advanced that he got to see in the time since the '69 moon landing - half the time between his birth and landing on the moon.

Good question. Maybe they don't (sometimes that seems the apparent and simple answer). Or maybe it's about proving devotion to their faith.

I had always believed that observant Jews kept kosher because the Bible (as they interpreted it) told them it was God's will.

....But I also always believed that the rules were derived from health concerns that were apparent 5000 years ago (don't eat scavengers, don't eat animals whose meat is rich with worms, basically don't eat animals that are natures garbage disposals....etc). Then it was only fairly recently that I had this very discussion with someone who said it had nothing (or very little to do with) health concerns. So we went to the best "source" I knew of....a close friend who while not a really observant Jew, was well educated in Judaism and also his father was a Rabbi...so he was pretty well informed. We asked him about the subject, and in a "Rabbinical" type answer, he said "Well, you are both right"....but the bottom line was she was more right than me (according to him). He said it was more about sticking to a (sometimes difficult) discipline to "prove" one's devotion to the faith...that was really much more what being kosher was about than any health issues (most of which have been eliminated by scientific advances anyway...like refrigeration, scientific examination of for tainted foods, better understand of how much heat is required in cooking to kill of certain parasites, etc., etc.

Can there be any practical purpose in some of the initiations of some religious ordination rituals other than "proving devotion"? Vows of silence, wearing "hair-suits"? Stuff like that? Don't some religions still practice "self flagellation"? Even otherwise non-observant Jews will often fast on Yom Kippur, and not drive or work or even turn on a light (a vestigial remnant of building a fire..."work" 5000 years ago).

"Faith"....I think everyone has and practices it to some degree. Even those who call themselves "atheists". I have on friend who recently started going to organized "atheist" meetings more than once a week. To me, this kind of discipline (just attending the meetings) is sort of a version of "faith" in itself. Also he (and others) would seem to take it on "faith" that there is no after-life, so while I myself (not an atheist, just not a practitioner of any organized religion) don't believe in an after-life....I also realize I can't be SURE of anything.

I take it on "faith" that I don't know anything. Works for me. However I don't need a religious book or a law book to tell me right from wrong.....maybe not on all things, but stuff like pedophilia, pretty much the Ten Commandments, and I'm figuring if I can follow the most basic of both instinctual knowledge between right and wrong, if there's a heaven, I'll be OK. I have a hard time with organized religion in good part just according to numbers. Can billions of people who don't subscribe to any one given religion all be wrong? If there's a God, is He gonna give the boot to everyone on the planet who does not practice the ONE "true" faith?

Seems almost laughable to me......even having grown up in what was always referred to as the religion of the "Chosen People"....Chosen for what? To be systematically enslaved, murdered, excluded, persecuted, etc....for thousands of years? To be unfairly stereotyped in too many ways to count? To even today be attacked by the likes of Mel Gibson for having been responsible for the murder of Jesus even after having been "exonerated" (finally) by the Pope over 45 years ago? (better late than never).

Peace,
D.

Not to get away from the humor of the last couple posts but to kind of address what Delija was saying .... I hope there is a God that is merciful but also can look at those in Burma who in the name of power are letting thousands die.

I hope there is a God with a sense of humor and a sense of "now it's time to take a serious Satan ass whoppin .... Hitler you're up, Stalin you're in the hole, Pol Pot you're on deck, and the Burma guys ... I'll decide whose batting clean up."
