Yes, they were "disenfranchised" but by their own state Democrat organizations. Both those states advanced the dates of their primaries to lend momentum to their favorite candidate... Hillary.

Prior to the actual MI and FL Democrat primaries, the DNC warned both these states' Democrat organizations that the primary results would not count. This was certainly no secret.. I recall reading articles to this effect multiple times in the days leading up to those two primaries. The state organizations decided to go ahead anyway... figuring no doubt that down the line, when the DNC sought to actually enforce its own rules, that the clamor of "Disenfranchised!" would force the DNC to back off enforcing its rules.

Twelve months ago, I did not see how the Democrat party could possibly NOT win the 2008 presidential election... even given the great dissatisfaction with the Democrat-majority Congressional performance.

Two candidates (both poor, IMO) have essentially torn apart the party that everything going for it... an unpopular war, and even more unpopular president, common impressions of a recession (the best economists in the world have successfully predicted 11 of the last 3 recessions), rising fuel prices, and on and on.

Well, the impossible has happened! The Republicans could run an Emo Philips and Thurston Howell III slate against whoever "wins" the Democrat party nomination and win the 2008 election. The Republicans can even run a RINO like McCain, and still look good.... wait... that's what they ARE doing!

Please, God, let both parties pick a good, rational, reasonable Vice-Presidential candidate. Let the Democrats select a real Democrat with the politics of a Zell Miller, and not another socialist-in-disguise like BO or HC. And, yet, last weekend I read two articles suggesting that alGore be tapped as the best vice-presidential candidate for the Democrats... arrgghhh.

The difference between a Republican and a Democrat is the Democrat is a cannibal -- they have to live off each other--while the Republicans, why, they live off the Democrats.

Never meant to whip up the "cracker coalition" around here, but if you wish to be proud of your skin color (whatever it is) then feel free.

I was just stating the fact: trying to win a major national election and blowing off the white male vote is probably not a smart move. If you're going to paint yourself as "everyones candidate" then why tick off the demographic that votes in the largest block? Not smart if you ask me.

Yes, but many times the angry white male is neither white or male.

(surely you've read that article)

White women are the largest voting bloc.

Quote:
In October, 2007, David Paul Kuhn published The Neglected Voter: White Men and the Democratic Dilemma. The most important statistic in this book is that white males constitute the second largest voting bloc in America: “They [white males] make up between 36 and 39 percent of voters, roughly five times more than Hispanic male and female voters combined. White women are about a 5 percent larger voting bloc than white men . . .” (p. 6).
