Yes. He farmed in the 30's and 40's, before American socialism.

Do you find it hard to believe that someone could have a successful, productive, satisfying life without handouts from the government ??

Pretty amazing thread here. Anybody who never farmed or never came near a farm seems to know more than someone who did live on the farm. You city assholes need to learn how to STFU on things you know nothing about. You never tossed a bale of hay, you never ran a combine, tractor or any other type of implement. The only thing you know how to do run is your mouth on a subject you have no experience in. You'd make great politicians.

No.

Oh, and many think American socialism started in the 30s and 40s.

You city boys couldn't figure it out if a farmer let his cows poop on you. Farm subsidies were invented for the well to do, never had anything to do with the farmers themselfs. And Oh lets not forget the pork (has to do with the pigs in DC). As far as the first pearl of wisdom from me, no problem, STFU about things you know nothing about. It's purty simple. You ever have to get up at 4:00 in the morning at the age of 13, get the cows in the barn, feed em, clean their teats, milk them, keep yourself from getting kicked or **** on (kinda reminds you of politicians), strain the mike then carry the milk to the cooler (and then again at 5:00 in the afternoon)?. Ever stacked a rack of hay onto a wagon (50 to 100 pound bales)? No you haven't but you'll feel mighty proud of yourself to put me down because I did. Now you can do one of two things, you can come off with a smartass remark or you can understand. Which will it be? Don't forget to click on my sig link below before you answer this question.

Your insulting demeanor diminishes any credibility you may have, OEF.

I don't always agree with OEFM, but I sure do here. Everyone I run into (I'm talking about daily life, not the board) knows everything there is to know about farming and what farm life is like even though they never tossed a bale of hay or spent their summers walking beans.
