I know a country where he can go and wave his little Mexican flag and not worry about harassment. I know a country where he can go and not only be proud to be Mexican, but actually be a Mexican and live as such. It's called 'Mexico'.

If you want to tout Mexico, then go live there, stay there, and enjoy the lifestyle that it affords. Be authentic.

I know this will get compared to St. Pat's Day, but personally, no other nation has bordered us and made it so easy to infuse the dregs of their society into ours. No other nation compares. Heck, Canada borders us, and they have the brainpower to survive on their own.

Suprisingly I am for some form of ISD sanctions on the teacher. What if you sent your kid to school with the Irish colors on St. Pattys day? Italian colors on Colombus Day? Same/Same.....

Teacher acted the fool. There was a right way to handle this, and this was not it.

That being said. Snot nosed little punk better learn to earn, or be deported. I am all for learning multiple langauges, it can only help you in life when you work on a global scale. However, you cry to the local rag in spanish tough chit

CNN has a douchebag commentator named Ruben Navarette, who I personally think should be deported, himself.

Anyhow, the guy is constantly crying racism because Mexicans are treated differently than Irish and Italian immigrants were 80 to 100 years ago.

Well, first of all, Irish and Italians weren't treated that great to begin with. They had some nicknames, that at the time, were the equivalent of the 'N' word. They WERE discriminated against.

Secondly, Europeans couldn't migrate here by simply running across an invisible boundary line. Many of those immigrants came through Ellis Island and lived in camps and bunkhouses until their papers were processed. It wasn't easy for them to get here. Kinda hard to swim the Atlantic. Am I saying that there were not any illegal Irish or Italians or Germans? No. I am quite sure there were many. But the ocean made it quite hard. Also, these countries were much smaller than Mexico. They had less people to migrate here, and the United States was significantly less populated at that time.

So, for those who say we are harder on Mexicans, you are right, and we should be. Rightfully so. They border us. It is easier to sneak in than any other country. There are much larger numbers trying to sneak in, and all at a time when we have a larger population in this country, with less to go around. Also, our forefathers assimilated and didn't try to establish 'Reconquista' and LA RAZA, etc. They didn't raise their flag above the American Flag. They didn't have to 'Press 1' for Italian or Gaelic.

It is time for Mexico to finally step up and build their country. It is time for them to go to the Wizard, buy a brain, and stand on their own. Mexican Presidents do nothing but fight to keep the borders open so their people can send the money back. That is their idea of running a country. They need to spend more time trying to fight corruption, attract business, build a bigger tourism industry, and most of all. FEED THEIR OWN PEOPLE.

What really really really bothers the crap out of me is being on the border when you go to the grocery store or target or wal-mart all the damn labels are in spanish and translated to english at the bottom!!!!!!!! Go****mn that pisses me off! And these damn politicians keep saying there's nothing to worry about these are friendly people and they have a right to have their culture, I don't mind culture ..... but don't force us into your ways and force your language on me.

As someone who works in education .... First question ... Did the kid get his flag back ? ... If he did the school better be coming to the defense of the teacher! ..... Now, with that out of the way ... If the teacher thinks allowing the student to display the flag .... Do anything else/display anything else .... I don't care what it might ..... If it had the potential to escalate violence and the teacher stopped the escalation, GOOD!
St. Patricks Day ... Think about it ?? If it could cause violence to escalate, and the teacher stopped it ... GOOD!
Then again, if it was your kid and the teacher did nothing ... If thats a problem, perhaps you should re-evaluate what occurred and who you are trusting to educate your kid

Teacher was not a fool, and possibly saved someones life!
