C'mon Kev....aren't you used to this idiocy yet? It's "Osama" and "Hitlery" to this mindset. Nothing's gonna change it. Not anything you say (although I empathise with your frustration...I've felt it and even wasted my time having stated it myself more than once).

We've got "Sandy Burglar" too....essentially never referred to by his proper name.

My favorite is one of our more "open minded" self proclaimed "conservatives" who calls (without fail) Jimmy Carter" - "Jimmuh Cahta"...

Now I don't know what that's supposed to mean, but the thing that strikes me as so odd about it is it seems to be a poke at the man's colloquial accent.

But why?

Because he's from a part of the country where people sound that way?

Surely the person who writes this can't feel somehow superior to everyone in the American South. And funny thing is (at least as I see it), this particular accent is almost a "badge of honor" to the like minded self proclaimed "conservatives" (who are anything but).

I mean what could be more "red state" than a Georgia accent?

Yet I guess if you are a "red stater" from Maine, life must get lonely and boring and frustrating enough that reality starts to get distorted. The synapses in the brain begin to misfire and the effect must be (just guessing here) something akin to a bad LSD trip. A perfectly benign Southern accent starts sounding nightmarish in the hallucination that is triggered by being the human equivalent of a fish out of water.

OK....I'm aware I've gone overboard. But this childish distorting of peoples names just seems beyond the kind of idiocy I know how to describe in normal terms. I suppose (for lack of any better explanation) that there's nothing normal about it. Hence no way to describe it in "normal" terms.

Peace,
D.

I've yet to find any substitutive evidence that he went by the name of Barry Soetero.

Yawn

Boy do people make a big stink about people making a big stink about Obama's name.

Who the hell cares.

Yes politicians have their names picked at.

Is his name a good reason not to vote for him? Hell no! But I don't have to know his name to know I don't stand with him on the issues.

Most of the folks that I've spoken to don't consider his last name an excuse not to vote for him, rather they use it as a way to express their frustration that a good portion of the country is BLINDLY following his vision for "change" (who cares what kind of change right?)

I guess I can't expect more...

I mean, that is the nature of America in the 21st century right? If there's something even remotely askew don't try to fix it....just CHANGE it!

You know...the alternator goes out in your car...just buy a new one? Don't like that dent on the refrigerator door?....let's head on down to Best Buy folks! A handful of people who don't buy health insurance and get sick and get stuck with huge hospital bills...thats okay the gubbmint should pay for it?

With what money? You ask...

Well who asked you, you party pooper? You're not on the "Change" bandwagon! I mean...come-on...the country's got money right? That's okay...we'll just pay for it later

You wanna know why I'm not voting for Obama, it's because he's the only man I've ever heard give a 30 minute speech and say NOTHING while crowds jeered him on.

I mean hell, Even G.W. Bush, for all his inconsistent rambling at the podium, and his inability to express his thoughts in even the simplest eloquence, generally conveys SOME sort of message (whether I agree with it or not). I hear Obama speak and all I get is mindless propaganda and rhetoric.

OK ... fine. You don't stand with him on the issues ... I can respect that. But to make the "issue" through a post about a guys name ... well, it's grade school pathetic at best. There is no intellectual perspective at all to implying that a guy ... because of his name shouldn't be president.

If a person subscribes to that point of view then should a name make the difference .... why is a Wop on the SCOTUS? A former AG a spik, and the guy who provided the legal precedence to allow torture a chink? Should I refer to the above respectively as a Genovese family member, the AG as an Aztec, the other a Khmer Rouge? It's so obviously intellectually bankrupt and dishonest not to mention grade school pathetic. And yet, there are those who will parrot the likes of a Lush Rimjob without ever giving it any of their own intellectual "once over".

Want to disagree about the issues ... OK let's go! But to call names and have absolutely not one idea what the one remaining synapse in your brain is thinking about calling people names.... move to Myanmar .... PLEASE!

But you're willing to call Barak Obama .... Osama bin Barak Hussein Obama.

You just keep typing away and prove my point for me. If brains were bannanas you would be all peel.

You need to relax Kev.

The great thing about America is that everyone has the right to be whatever kind of idiot they want.

The bad thing about America is that everyone has the right to be whatever kind of idiot they want.

Ya see. I agree with you in point. Making fun of the guy's name is on about a 3rd grade level. Okay, haha Iraq Osama because he's not tough on terrorists...maybe it's catchy the first time but after that....come-on man.

In the end, you're never going to be able to stop anyone from making a bad decision for a bad reason (or in my opinion a good decision, albeit for a bad reason).

If you see something that you HONESTLY think is that dumb, just remember what my Grandmother always said...."You can't fix stupid."

Edited to say!

This is precisely my point! You're refuting what you consider to be a stupid grade-schoolish insult with another stupid grade-schoolish insult.

That would be like me calling you a fartknocker and you responding with

"That is so childish....by the way...Your mom's a fartknocker"

You even misspelled bananas!
