Now TOY guns are eeeeevil and dangerous...[PV?]

It kind of makes me wonder what the hell is wrong with people? Bright orange plugs are not enough now? What will they ban next from kids/collecors? Slingshots? Waterballoons? This reminds me of what Australia did. Not only did they ban real guns, but ALL things that resemble a gun. This may not be a big deal for people who shoot real guns, but big problems often arise from very small ones for us gun enthusiasts. What bothers me most is the seemingly sneaky last sentence that is bolded. Why would someone use a fake gun for self defense, hunting, and museum display? Is this person confused about the difference between a real gun and a toy gun? Yes, like I, or my kid (if I ever have one) will go hunting with a fake toy gun with a bright orange plug. Or use one to protect myself by squirting the bad guy with luke-warm water.

Sorry, it may mean nothing to folks here, but it bothers me...

According to a recent article on Yahoo News, there are a number of new bills in Congress to work on making the toy gun laws in the United States even more strict in many states:

"Among those 15 states, seven bills limiting fake guns are pending this year and 21 have been enacted since 1990, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. Some states have enacted or are considering multiple measures. They range from prohibiting imitation firearms in vehicles to banning the toys from convenience stores.

Tennessee lawmakers are considering a proposal by state Rep. John Deberry to make it a misdemeanor to intentionally display or expose "an imitation firearm in a public place in a threatening manner." Exceptions include justifiable self defense, lawful hunting, and displays such as a museum collection."

The Museum display part has me scratching my head and wondring who their supplier is.

Not being able to read the actual law I don't see what the problem here is. I mean all it does is make it illegal to use the fake gun in a threatning manner I.E. pointing it at someone and threating to shoot them if they don't give you their money.

I don't see how it would make it illegal to airsoft as it's not really threating when you are all playing a game similar to paintball. Hell according to that you can use it to defend yourself.

I think the problem is this:

"to make it a misdemeanor to intentionally display"

Since there is a conjunction in there this appears to be one aspect of the law. If it is worded anything like this, it means your kids can't play in the front yard with toy guns because they would be intentionally displaying said guns.

I think it just boils down to a slippery slope argument and the fact that if kids are kept away from even toy guns it will help build a fear of them later which will help the anti constitutionalists in the long run.
