If a kid robs someone, that would be because of really bad parenting, not the gun, right? To me, it's putting the blame on the wrong thing. Parents should be responsible. My dad had one of the super-real cap guns when he was a kid. No orange plugs in the 1950's, and how many kids got shot??? Better parenting then. Better values too IMHO. And he used real rifles that were his father's and his father's friends, so he knew the difference. Even in the late 1970's and early 1980's there was no orange on the tips of anything that resembled a gun. It wasn't until one incident where a kid was shot by a cop because he pointed a toy gun at him from a distance. And that's where it all changed. That one case.
I think kids should be exposed to guns-real guns so they don't fear them, but understand them. My old man had all kinds of neat rifles, and never have I had the desire to play with them. I knew the difference. I was taught that. I really admire the parents here on this board who take their kids to go shooting. My dad never did that with me. Kind of wish we did. Closest thing was with a BB gun. But San Francisco made those illegal to own, and that was it. This may seem like a small issue now, but it could very well turn into an avenue of bigger things that will/could affect owners of real guns. Something to keep an eye on, I feel. Politicians are a sneaky, slimy sort. |

When you have states (New Jersey) that force you to register a BB gun as if it were a BMG 50 .... Nothing surprises me. So yea, I'm glad I live in one of the FREE STATES of America

Gore's nutty idea Gore proposed last week that the United States "commit to producing 100 percent of our electricity from renewable energy and truly clean carbon-free sources within 10 years." Not just all new electricity, mind you, which would be challenging enough. But all existing electricity, too. |
