well then why do we need the patriot act, DHS, REAL ID, TSA telling us we can't carry 3.1 ounces of anything on a plane, .......

or is this the corner stone in the war on terror? after iraq the war will be over. because iraq isn't a war. its a battle ground in a war. right?

the war on terror. IMO withdrawing from iraq and keeping our forces along the border and coastline - as noted by the general from the USMC, (which apparently old tmorr isn't supportive of, calling it BS) seems to agree with me on - is simply fighting the war a different way. IMO pulling out of iraq and telling them "hey - you're free as you'll ever get" would be the ultimate test of their "freedom".

we did it without a massive french occupation after the war. maybe people forget these things...

anything past our borders when its not a direct conflict is socializing the defense of another country. or imperialism. one or the other. seems pretty clear to me.

In their love of the Hezbollah model, they have helped to build up Moktada al-Sadr, the scion of Iraq's most revered clerical family, who became a Shiite street hero for his defense of the Shia against Sunni insurgents and al Qaeda. Sadr's followers include the only Shiites willing and able to kill Americans--another hugely attractive factor to the leadership in Tehran, since wounding America in Iraq is as indispensable to the ruling elite's sense of purpose as raining Katyushas down on Israelis.
