A fine military leader, but what would make him a good president?

I've always said I would vote for Collin Powel. The fact he does not want the job and seem disgusted by the thought only confirms my decision. I feel that with the current crop of candidates, he would win in a landslide.

Ron Paul is right on a lot of things. However, what good is it if you are too rebelious and can't get the rest of the country behind you? He looks very good in contrast to the trash we have in Washington, but that does not make him an effective leader. What I would like to see of Ron Paul's legacy is about 100 more like him in Congress. The Legislative branch is what is desroying this country, not the Executive.

Indeed. Whoever we get will be nothing more than a figurehead.

Maybe because they have forgotten what democratic representation is all about.
They have divorced themselves from the people who elected them.

True. But I give equal responsibility to Bush because of his efforts to become king or emperor.

I don't agree with a lot of what Bush has done, however, he could not have done it if the Legislature had any balls and was actually trying to do what was best for their constituents and the country. The President can only do what the Legislature allows.

You and I can complain all day long about what Bush has done in the Middle East, but we can never change the fact it was Reps and Dems that authorized it. All they care about is their own interests and keeping the gravy train rolling.

Then I ask you, do we need Paul as President to restore order, or do we need 100 more like him in the legislature that would have never allowed it in the first place?

There is plenty of responsibility to go around...And I don't see much of a change coming in the next few years.
There is a leadership void.

I've said before, and i'll keep saying, that the framers of the constitution never intended politics to be a career. Anyone who wants a job in politics should automatically be barred and we should pick the president via lottery from the citizenry. can't be any worse than what we've had to deal with for the last umpteen years...
Or at least resigned to working the job at minimum wage

Hmmm,
Gotta remember that. It's so much nicer than PUPPET on a financial/get the voter string.
